“Ten minutes into arrant mayhem in this town near the Mexican border, and the gunman, a disgruntled Iraq war veteran, has already taken out two people, one slumped in his desk, the other covered in blood on the floor,” begins a shocking New York Times article reporting on how the Boy Scouts are being trained to take on domestic terrorists, which apparently would include war veterans and American citizens if the Homeland Security definition of a terrorist is to be applied.

Homeland Security and the FBI are behind the effort to indoctrinate and train the Boy Scouts to become tomorrow’s Gestapo. “Our end goal is to create more agents,” April McKee, a senior Border Patrol agent, told the Times. “Before it was more about the basics,” said Johnny Longoria, a Border Patrol agent. “But now our emphasis is on terrorism, illegal entry, drugs and human smuggling.”

Is this the literal creation of Hitler-Jugend style youth brigades designed to act as the front line for eventual programs of mass internment and gun confiscation in the advent of a national emergency?

In Nazi Germany, the Hitler Youth succeeded the Boy Scout movement. Hitler Youth training was militarized in comparison to the Boy Scout network, which was largely based around education. Boys aged fourteen and upwards, as well as a separate branch aged 10-14, were trained at preparatory schools to become future Nazi leaders. At its height in 1940, and after it had become mandatory to join, the Hitler Youth boasted no less than 8 million members.

GMAC Insurance has released the results of its National Drivers Test for 2009. The test, which measures basic knowledge of driving laws, was given to more than 5,000 drivers from all 50 states and the District of Columbia — and New Yorkers finished last. Last year’s loser, New Jersey, improved its score just enough to leap over New York. Hawaii, California and Georgia rounded out the bottom five.

Idaho and Wisconsin drivers tied for the highest average score, with an 80.6.

The point of the test, of course, is not just to confirm what anyone who’s tried to merge onto the Thruway already knew. It’s to measure how much we know about safe driving. And the news isn’t good.

WASHINGTON — President Obama told human rights advocates at the White House on Wednesday that he was mulling the need for a “preventive detention” system that would establish a legal basis for the United States to incarcerate terrorism suspects who are deemed a threat to national security but cannot be tried, two participants in the private session said.

The discussion, in a 90-minute meeting in the Cabinet Room that included Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and other top administration officials, came on the eve of a much-anticipated speech Mr. Obama is to give Thursday on a number of thorny national security matters, including his promise to close the detention center at the naval base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

Human rights advocates are growing deeply uneasy with Mr. Obama’s stance on these issues, especially his recent move to block the release of photographs showing abuse of detainees, and his announcement that he is willing to try terrorism suspects in military commissions — a concept he criticized bitterly as a presidential candidate.

The two participants, outsiders who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the session was intended to be off the record, said they left the meeting dismayed.

They said Mr. Obama told them he was thinking about “the long game” — how to establish a legal system that would endure for future presidents. He raised the issue of preventive detention himself, but made clear that he had not made a decision on it. Several senior White House officials did not respond to requests for comment on the outsiders’ accounts.

“He was almost ruminating over the need for statutory change to the laws so that we can deal with individuals who we can’t charge and detain,” one participant said. “We’ve known this is on the horizon for many years, but we were able to hold it off with George Bush. The idea that we might find ourselves fighting with the Obama administration over these powers is really stunning.”

The other participant said Mr. Obama did not seem to be thinking about preventive detention for terrorism suspects now held at Guantánamo Bay, but rather for those captured in the future, in settings other than a legitimate battlefield like Afghanistan. “The issue is,” the participant said, “What are the options left open to a future president?”

A journalist employed by Sweden’s TV4 was taken to hospital early Wednesday morning following a powerful explosion at the door of her Stockholm apartment.

Police believe the bombing was a deliberate attack against the journalist, and have launched an investigation into attempted murder, according to several media reports.

“We can confirm that the victim is a TV4-journalist. The person is doing well considering the circumstances, but is naturally quite shocked,” said TV4 spokesperson Gunnar Gidefeldt to the TV4 news website nyhetskanalen.se.

The explosion, which occurred shortly before 4am, blew up the door of the woman’s second story apartment on Fatburskvarnsgatan on the island of Södermalm.

The blast also caused a fire to break out in the apartment, filling the building’s stairwell with smoke, and forcing the TV4 journalist to escape through a window. No other residents in the building were injured, however.

Gidefeldt told the Aftonbladet newspaper, there were no known threats against the woman.

“No. There is nothing as far as we know, but that is one aspect of the police’s work, so it’s foolish to speculate,” he said.

Police have begun a preliminary investigation into attempted murder, despite lingering uncertainty whether the explosion was directed specifically at the TV4 journalist.

“The explosive was so powerful that we can’t rule out that she could have been injured or killed by it,” said interim police commissioner Anders Bjäregård to nyhetskanalen.se

“We’re going to interview residents in the building as well as look into her background to see if there is any motive behind the act.”

But the FACT is our GAS TAXES and other PUBLIC money are going into these deals, in some cases more public cash than private, but you’ll have to pay a DOUBLE TAX, a toll of 75 cents a MILE to a foreign toll operator, in order to access our PUBLIC roads. SANTA CRUZ, Calif- Deputies are continuing to investigate bomb making materials that were discovered at a Santa Cruz home Tuesday night causing police to evacuate nearly 40 homes. According to deputies, a large shipment of hazardous materials was delivered to a home on 25th Avenue in Santa Cruz Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff deputies blocked off the 200 block of East Cliff Drive and the nearby streets in a 300-foot radius of that home. A search warrant was issued overnight and deputies were able to search the house. Police have arrested the man inside the home where the explosives were delivered; he was under the influence of a controlled substance. People in the neighborhood were able to return home early Wednesday morning. Deputies said they are not sure if it’s the company that shipped the materials.

“Well, obviously, our bomb technicians will go in the there to retrieve the material, discover what’s there in the event there’s an explosive. Obviously we want to clear the area,” said Sergeant Dan Campos of Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday night

Jasper County sheriff’s deputies are looking for suspects accused of dropping homemade bombs outside a home in Buna. It happened outside a home on County Road 796.

The family says they heard an exploding sound Monday night around midnight. They looked out the window and saw a car driving away.

The next morning the family says they found two homemade bombs in a grassy area near the home. One of the bombs had already exploded. The other was still intact. Deputies say the suspects placed heater packs from inside MRE’s and nails inside a Boone’s Farm wine bottle.

ATF and the Houston bomb squad assisted with the recovery of the bombs. Law enforcement officers say the suspects face 3rd degree felony charges of possession of an explosive weapon.

Big Brother’s forces of tyranny are making a major push in Congress right now to re-authorize E-Verify. With the help and support of NumbersUSA and some in the Freedom movement who are part of a 5th coulmn to bring this country down,Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing

This massive data bank essentially will dictate who can be hired in this country. It is the brainchild of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and is an electronic employment verification (EEV) program.

The plan is to make E-Verify mandatory for all American workers. E-Verify is hugely flawed, and will have devastating effects on both naturalized U.S. citizens, as well as those who were native-born, if it is not stopped.

Yet there are now multiple bills, in both the House and Senate, aimed at re-authorizing the flawed E-Verify program. If successful, any one of these bills will shackle U.S. citizens to a hugely-flawed national database that:

* will not safeguard the United States from terrorists;
* will not preserve what’s left of our Rule of Law; and
* will further decimate our liberty.

APC stands opposed to Big Brother’s surveillance over our lives - no matter the reason. As Benjamin Franklin so sagely opined, “They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security.” The United States already has laws on the books to prevent the lawbreaking and abuse directed at our nation and her citizens; they need only be enforced. Americans must not be herded into DHS’ surveillance system because of these lawbreakers, or for any other excuse.

The E-Verify program currently mandates that all federal agencies and all federal sub-contractors must use the E-Verify System in order to hire new employees. One major problem with E-Verify is that DHS first checks a worker’s eligibility through the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Numident database.

The fact is, SSA never purges a Social Security number once it is assigned. The Numident database currently contains 435 million records; more than 100 million more than the nation’s total population, legal or otherwise. In December 2006, the SSA Inspector General reported approximately 18 million of these records are not accurate. Yet DHS wants E-Verify re-authorized, and made mandatory for the entire American workforce. Just imagine the disruption already suffered by millions of American citizens as they try to work and support their families. That hardship will only grow much worse if E-Verify is re-authorized and made mandatory for every working American citizen.

It is outrageous to propose that the very foundation of our great nation - the hard working, legal Americans, must now submit to having their personal information placed in a massive DHS database, and be registered in a DHS worker registry, before being authorized to work in our own country. This is an outrage! And the presumption that DHS can better find millions of illegal, undocumented workers by first herding them together with a hundred+ million legitimate workers is absurd.

A study by the Cato Institute found the E-Verify program to be ineffective, intrusive, and expensive. “A full-fledged Electronic Employment Verification (EEV) system has many practical and technical problems - to say nothing of the question of whether it is appropriate for a free country - and would still fail to prevent illegal immigration” says Jim Harper, Cato’s director of Information Policy Studies. Mr. Harper further stated, “The things necessary to make a system like this really impervious to forgery and fraud would convert it from an identity system into a cradle-to-grave biometric tracking system.”

E-Verify sets the stage for a national workforce management system, designed ultimately to subject all of us to an intrusive global surveillance system.

E-Verify will not prevent illegals from working in the United States, but rather help identify illegals the government wants converted to “authorized aliens.”

Such a national human resource management system is highly desired by big business, and has been under implementation since the 1990s. Federal executive involvement is nothing less than fascism.

E- Verify is a unjustified and unwarranted intrusion into our privacy, and a very real threat to our security and liberty!

Please be warned: There are forces now pushing for your support of the E-Verify system, telling you that it is necessary for tough enforcement to protect us from illegal immigration and terrorism. They are lying!

CUMBERLAND, Ind. (WISH) - Cumberland police want to know who planted two pipe bombs in a popular, family friendly park.

Sunday night park goers were taking advantage of the weather by gathering at the Cumberland Lions Park. Police say at around 10 p.m. something went horribly wrong and a pipe bomb exploded, putting the lives of park goes in danger.

Arrol Griffin doesn’t live far from the park. He walks his two dogs Pepper and Sissy there during the week.

“As many small kids come out here and it gets pretty crowded here on the weekends, Saturdays and especially Sundays they have cookouts and stuff it’s a nice park real nice park,” said Griffin.

The explosion was so loud not only did Griffin hear it, but a police captain heard the blast at the police station about one mile away. Luckily no one was injured.

“The first bomb exploded on its own. IMPD’s bomb squad came out and assisted us with the rest of us. There was a second bag found out there and they detonated it. It contained what they described as bomb making paraphernalia,” said Detective Jim Caldwell of the Cumberland Police Department.

60 years have passed since a damaged jet dropped a hydrogen bomb near Savannah, Ga. — and the Pentagon still can’t find it.

Things go missing. It’s to be expected. Even at the Pentagon. Last October, the Pentagon’s inspector general reported that the military’s accountants had misplaced a destroyer, several tanks and armored personnel carriers, hundreds of machine guns, rounds of ammo, grenade launchers and some surface-to-air missiles. In all, nearly $8 billion in weapons were AWOL.

Those anomalies are bad enough. But what’s truly chilling is the fact that the Pentagon has lost track of the mother of all weapons, a hydrogen bomb. The thermonuclear weapon, designed to incinerate Moscow, has been sitting somewhere off the coast of Savannah, Georgia for the past 40 years. The Air Force has gone to greater lengths to conceal the mishap than to locate the bomb and secure it.

One of Tanton’s goals is for the population of the United States to be no more than 150 million people. How is this number going to be achieved? SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Rahm Emanuel wanted answers. Funds from a $2 million state grant to a school in his congressional district had not arrived, so he went straight to the man in charge: Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

For four successive days in 2006, then-Rep. Emanuel called for Blagojevich, with one message noting it was about the Chicago Academy, according to thousands of pages of call logs reviewed by The Associated Press. Emanuel’s chief of staff followed the next week with four more calls to a top Blagojevich aide.

The school grant is at the heart of an extortion allegation against Blagojevich, who was thrown out as Illinois governor in January and faces multiple federal corruption charges.

Prosecutors claim Blagojevich learned the congressman was inquiring about the school and hatched a scheme to squeeze Emanuel — now President Barack Obama’s chief of staff — to get his Hollywood superagent brother to hold a fundraiser for him in exchange for releasing the school funds.

Sacramento police say an incendiary device found at the Sacramento Federal Courthouse has been rendered safe, without damage or injuries.

At about 4:45 this morning, security personnel discovered a suspicious item on the west side of the courthouse at 501 I Street, police said.

Sgt. Norm Leong said the device was found inside a paper grocery bag. It was meant to cause a fire, but had done no damage, he said.

“Further description of the device is not being released at this time,” police said in a written statement.

A police bomb squad was dispatched, and the item was eventually rendered safe and removed, according to the statement.

Assisting in the incident were city firefighters, FBI agents, U.S. marshals, and members of several other federal agencies, police said.

The discovery led to the closure of area streets and delayed Amtrak trains from entering the nearby station. Streets were reopened this afternoon.

Available intelligence and recent events indicate that terrorists have the capability to mount an attack on the target and that such an attack is within the group’s current intent. It is assessed that an attack is likely to be a priority for the terrorists and might well be mounted.

The Government has identified the intention of radical environmental groups to disrupt the production of coal in the Appalachian Mountains. The primary geographic focus of this activity will be the Coal River Valley of West Virginia.

Supported by the above-ground ecological “defense” organization, Rain forest Action Network, activists will conduct both legal and illegal direct actions against corporations involved in coal mining. The pressure on these corporations is expected to last throughout the summer of 2009.

Government Analysts expect these direct actions to range from highway blockades to criminal vandalism. Probable targets include mines and mining equipment; the coal transportation process; power companies that utilize coal as fuel; and banks that invest in, and loan to, mining and utility companies.

Recent tactics used by anti-coal mining activists in the United Kingdom has included the hijacking of coal trains and the shutting of a portion of a major power plant. US groups have targeted banks, mines, and power companies in less aggressive actions.

Conclusion:

The Government expects a very active summer of illegal activity targeting the coal and power industries throughout the central Appalachian Mountains.

Security personnel tasked with the protection of banks, mines, utilities, and coal transportation should plan to counteract illegal activities by these groups. All personnel should be trained in the identification of pre- operational surveillance that will occur prior to this activity.

TIJUANA, Mexico — The bodies of four U.S. citizens were found strangled, beaten and stabbed in a van in this border city, two days after they reportedly left their Southern California homes for a night at the Mexican clubs, U.S. officials said Thursday.

The victims, ages 19 to 23 years old, were found tied up on Saturday, but their deaths were not reported earlier because they were under investigation, said Fermin Gomez, an assistant state prosecutor in Baja California.

U.S. consular officials in Tijuana said the victims — two men and two women from the San Diego and Chula Vista areas — were U.S. citizens. The state attorney general’s office in Baja, Calif., said one of the women was Mexican.

Their deaths are the latest in a string of violence in Tijuana that authorities blame on a bloody turf war between drug cartels.

“I just don’t think kids should be going to Tijuana right now,” Chula Vista police Lt. Scott Arsenault told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “They ran into the wrong people, obviously.”

Bernard Gonzales, a spokesman for the Chula Vista Police Department, said a friend told the women’s parents they were headed to nightclubs in Tijuana on Thursday night. They were reported missing the next day when they did not answer their cell phones.

A MAN carrying two bombs in a backpack was arrested in a Northern Territory shopping mall yesterday.

Members of the public called police when they saw the man, 28, wielding a samurai sword just before 3am.

Territory police discovered he was also carrying what were believed to be two metal pipe bombs after they apprehended him.

An area around Alice Springs’ Todd Mall was shut down for more than 10 hours until NT Police bomb disposal experts detonated the explosives.

Superintendent Kym Davies said officers located the man in front of Alice Springs Cinema where he was arrested. It is believed the man was listening to an iPod when police confronted him.

Supt Davies said a 100m area from the Todd Tavern to the Westpac Bank and from Leichardt Tce to the Todd River was closed when members found two “suspicious items” in the man’s backpack. Read More

WASHINGTON (AP) - The NRA today (March 6 2009) came out in favor of the Obama administration’s attempt at reviving the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004, citing experts who say that assault weapons perpetuate unhealthy stereotypes of physical beauty.

“We support the proposed assault weapons ban for much that same reason that West Virginia state lawmaker Jeff Eldridge supports a ban on the sale of Barbie dolls,” said NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, “because they place too much emphasis on the importance of a weapon’s physical beauty, at the expense of a shooter’s intellectual and emotional development.”

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad switching shed was destroyed with a pipe bomb early Tuesday, authorities said Thursday. The blast occurred inside the concrete building near Sugar Grove and severely damaged electronic components that controlled rail switches for the railroad’s Aurora line, officials said. The pipe bomb was apparently dropped through a rooftop air vent, railroad police and the Kane County sheriff’s office determined. No one was injured, but the blast caused a major disruption of rail traffic for several hours to the railroad’s Aurora line, which carries both freight traffic and Amtrak passenger trains.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Acting on a search warrant obtained after a man made threatening reports against City Hall, Spokane authorities discovered bomb making materials in his home.

Forty four-year-old Thomas McMillan went to City Hall Thursday afternoon and when he was asked to sign in as a visitor, he threatened that he was going to ‘blow-up’ City Hall.

McMillian was arrested for the Class B Felony “Threats to bomb or injure property.” This charge specifically prohibits any threat to bomb a public building, knowing such information to be false and with the intent to alarm the person to whom the information is communicated or repeated.

Later in the afternoon, when police served a search warrant on his home near Gardner and Elm, officers discovered bomb making materials.

The materials were disposed of by the authorities. No one in the area was evacuated.

ATLANTA (AP) - Officials say hundreds of employees of the Georgia Department of Transportation headquarters in Atlanta have been evacuated after a bomb threat.

DOT spokesman Bryan Gunter says the warning came shortly before 3 p.m. Friday, and the evacuation was ordered immediately.

The building on West Peachtree Street in Atlanta, near North Avenue, called 1 Georgia Center is about 20 stories. Not all DOT employees of the agency who work in Atlanta are in that building.

Forget the battlefield radios, the combat PDAs or even infantry hand signals. When the soldiers of the future want to communicate, they’ll read each other’s minds.

At least, that’s the hope of researchers at the Pentagon’s mad-science division Darpa. The agency’s budget for the next fiscal year includes $4 million to start up a program called Silent Talk. The goal is to “allow user-to-user communication on the battlefield without the use of vocalized speech through analysis of neural signals.” That’s on top of the $4 million the Army handed out last year to the University of California to investigate the potential for computer-mediated telepathy.

Before being vocalized, speech exists as word-specific neural signals in the mind. Darpa wants to develop technology that would detect these signals of “pre-speech,” analyze them, and then transmit the statement to an intended interlocutor. Darpa plans to use EEG to read the brain waves. It’s a technique they’re also testing in a project to devise mind-reading binoculars that alert soldiers to threats faster the conscious mind can process them.

Known as “Dr Doom” for his negative stance, Prof Roubini argues that China is better placed than the US to provide a reserve currency for the 21st century because it has a large current account surplus, focused government and few of the economic worries the US faces.

In a column in the New York Times, Prof Roubini warns that with the proposal for a new international reserve currency via the International Monetary Fund, Beijing has already begun to take steps to usurp the greenback.

Former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, describing nine U.S. banks as “central to any solution” of the credit crisis, told their leaders to take government aid or be forced to by regulators, according to a memo his staff prepared for a private meeting in October.

“If a capital infusion is not appealing, you should be aware that your regulator will require it in any circumstance,” Paulson’s one-page list of talking points for the session with the banks’ chief executive officers said.

“We don’t believe it is tenable to opt out because doing so would leave you vulnerable and exposed,” the memo said.

Investing $125 billion in the financial institutions was a shift for the Bush administration, which had proposed buying troubled assets with $700 billion Congress approved 10 days earlier. The memo is among newly released Treasury Department documents containing details about the Oct. 13 meeting.

“Most Americans are going to be uncomfortable with the government forcing the banks into this arrangement,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, a nonprofit research group in Washington that obtained the documents under a Freedom of Information Act request.

Missing biological material contained small amounts of Ebola gene

WINNIPEG - Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory is reviewing its security measures after vials containing safe traces of the Ebola gene were allegedly swiped by a scientist four months ago.

Officials at the lab became aware last week that the 22 vials were missing when U.S. authorities arrested the former employee at the Manitoba-North Dakota border.

The vials, according to court documents, were in a glove, wrapped in aluminum foil and placed in a plastic bag with electrical wires. They were found in the trunk of the scientist’s car.
