2nd Bomb Attack On EnCana Pipeline In Canada In 3 Days - 6th So Far
The Mounties confirm a bomb went off between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. this morning near Pouce Coupe, not far from the site of a July 2 bombing.
There were no injuries but RCMP say the explosion caused a small leak of sour gas that was quickly stopped when the pipeline’s automatic safety system shut down that section of line.
Police were alerted when a resident reported hearing a loud bang early this morning.
This is the latest in a spate of bombings aimed at the pipeline that began last October following a written demand sent to a local paper that Calgary-based EnCana (TSX: ECA) stop natural gas development in the region.
Reserves in the area are mostly sour gas, which contains hydrogen sulfide that can be deadly if released into the air.
