A rocket experiment set to launch Tuesday aims to create artificial clouds at the outermost layers of Earth’s atmosphere.

The project, called the Charged Aerosol Release Experiment (CARE), plans to trigger cloud formation around the rocket’s exhaust particles. The clouds are intended to simulate naturally-occurring phenomena called noctilucent clouds, which are the highest clouds in the atmosphere.

“This is really essentially at the boundary of space,” said Wayne Scales, a scientist at Virginia Tech who will use computer models to study the physics of the artificial dust cloud as it’s released. “Nothing like this has been done before and that’s why everybody’s really excited about it.”

The experiment is the first attempt to create artificial noctilucent clouds. A previous spacecraft, called Aeronomy of Ice in the Mesosphere (AIM), launched in 2007 to observe the natural clouds from space.

CARE is slated to launch Tuesday between 7:30 and 7:57 p.m. EDT (2330 and 2357 GMT) from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.

A nonlethal device best known for beating back pirates off the coast of Somalia was deployed by local police in San Diego at political gatherings, and even at a competition to build sand castles, according to a local publication.

“The [Long Range Acoustic Device] was stationed by San Diego County Sheriff deputies at a recent town hall forum hosted by Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) in Spring Valley and at a subsequent town hall with Congressman Darrell Issa (R-San Diego),” East Country Magazine reported after reviewing official records. It was also parked at a local sand-building competition along the beach.

Though the Long Range Acoustic Device can be used for hailing, it has also been employed as a weapon, most prominently in 2005 by a cruise ship, which used it to ward off attacking pirates. In fact, the device, which was developed after the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000, is designed precisely for that sort of mission. It can permanently damage hearing, depending on how it’s used.

Deploying the Long Range Acoustic Device to local events has provided ammunition to critics of Police Sheriff Bill Gore, who was the agent-in-charge of the FBI’s infamous 1992 Ruby Ridge siege. In response to questions posed by East Country Magazine about use of the technology, Gore said that officers had the appropriate training and that the device’s use as a deterrent is just a “precaution in case you need it.”

WASHINGTON — Private security guards who worked for Blackwater repeatedly shot wildly into the streets of Baghdad without regard for civilians long before they were involved in a 2007 shooting episode that left at least 14 Iraqis dead, federal prosecutors charge in a new court document.

While traveling through Baghdad in heavily armored vehicles, at least one of the guards, under contract with the State Department to provide security for United States Embassy personnel, fired an automatic weapon “without aiming” while another deliberately fired into the streets to “instigate gun battles in a manner that was inconsistent with the use of force and escalation of force policies that governed all Blackwater personnel in Iraq,” the federal prosecutors stated.

The new accusations were included in a document filed by prosecutors last week in the criminal case against five former Blackwater guards who have been charged with manslaughter in federal court in Washington in connection with the shootings in Nisour Square, in Baghdad, on Sept. 16, 2007.

TEA Parties and “End the Fed” Protests Cannot Win Back the Republic Without This Information

Many Americans appear to be awakening from their slumber of apathy as government forces are made their move for total control of our lives. Massive TEA Party protests on April 15^th, followed by more than 1000 again on Independence Day, show a growing movement of concerned, dedicated Americans. But there is a major component missing from those protests. There is a nearly universal lack of understanding of the issue of Sustainable Development and the dangers it poses to our liberty. Consequently, that issue is being left out of the protests.

Meanwhile, as thousands attend the TEA Parties and protest the Federal Reserve, taxes, and out of control federal government, inside their local city halls, international forces are busy turning the communities into little soviets.

I have been traveling the nation over the past few months sounding the alarm that we cannot win this battle to restore our Republic if we don’t understand that what we face is not a bunch of random issues – but a complete agenda of control – Sustainable Development. Owosso, MI – A pro-life activist gunned down this morning as he peacefully held a picture of a baby with the word “Life” outside a high school in Owosso, Michigan. The victim is Jim Pouillon, a well known activist in the Owosso area and a friend of Operation Rescue.

Authorities identified the shooter as Harlan J. Drake, 33, of Owosso, Michigan. Drake gunned down pro-life activist Jim Pouillon, and also killed Mike Fuoss, the owner of a local gravel pit. Prosecutors say Drake also intended to kill a third man, a Realtor, and that he had grudges against all three men.

According to authorities, Pouillon was targeted for his pro-life views. Drake has been charged with two counts of first degree premeditated murder. He has also been charges with one count of felony firearm and carrying a firearm with unlawful intent. He is being held without bail at the Shiawassee county jail. Drake was arrested about 45 minutes after the shooting and is now in police custody. This shooting comes in the wake of hundreds of death threats that have been received by Operation Rescue and other pro-life organizations over the past three months.

“We have received literally hundreds of death threats in the past three months. Our office has been vandalized three times. Just yesterday, the FBI was in our office and picked up a stack of threatening letters that we received,” said Newman. “We denounce violence in the strongest terms. The bloodshed must stop both inside and outside of the abortion clinics.”

Yesterday, another radical extremist joined the ranks of the Obama administration. Cass Sunstein, who is an old friend of Barack Obama, is now our new Regulatory Czar. You will recall that he is the guy who wants animals to sue hunters and other Americans. He also supports gun control.

GOA has received a report from a very well-known journalist at a big newspaper that the FBI and BATFE are teaming up together to get off-the-record information on gun owners. The project, known as Vigilant Eagle, involves federal agents going to gun stores and doing “meet and greets” with shop owners in the hopes of obtaining informal information on people buying guns.

The former chief of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Miami office who led the agency’s cases against infamous Panama strongman Manuel Noriega and Medellin cartel kingpin Fabio Ocho, was indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday Sept 10, 2009 for ordering the shredding of records once belonging to disgraced banker Allen Stanford.

Tom Raffanello, who emerged as Stanford’s worldwide security chief after leaving the DEA five years ago, was charged with ordering workers to destroy thousands of documents just days after government agents shut down the banking empire in a massive fraud case.

Prosecutors say the records, once kept at Stanford’s security office in Fort Lauderdale, were hauled away in a 95-gallon bin in February after a federal judge ordered that no company paperwork be destroyed.

The 61-year-old former DEA chief said he was prepared to turn himself over to federal agents Friday on charges of conspiracy and obstruction.

“No one is sorrier than me that it came to this — after spending 32 ½ years working for the government,” he told The Miami Herald. “But I’m prepared to fight this. I still believe in the system.”

The indictment of the highly decorated former agent is the latest in a series of charges against Stanford and top lieutenants accused of stealing more than $7 billion from investors in a spectacular Ponzi scheme.

Investigators say most of the money was diverted to support failed business ventures and Stanford’s extravagant lifestyle, which included mansions, luxury cars and sports sponsorships.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh plans to lease a downtown parking lot for four days to accommodate protesters during the Group of 20 economic summit this month.

City Public Safety Director Mike Huss told reporters Thursday the plan “strikes a great balance between providing for the security and then also providing an area of open public access.”

But protest organizer Naomi Archer says a “protest pit” is unacceptable and demonstrators must be allowed to be in a free and open area.

Protesters have asked to camp in city parks, which Huss says won’t be allowed. Archer says that doesn’t make sense because hundreds camped in Schenley Park in 2007 to gain an idea of what life is like in refugee camps.

Archer is from the group Three Rivers Climate Convergence.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Washington notables broke ground on the future home of the Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday, symbolically starting construction on the biggest federal building project in the Washington area since the Pentagon 68 years ago.

The project will bring together more than 15,000 employees now scattered in 35 offices in the region, placing them on a 176-acre campus strewn with historic buildings in a long-neglected corner of Washington, five miles from the Capitol building.

Department leaders hope the $3.4 billion consolidation will help the department fulfill its core mission — protecting the homeland — in ways big and small.

“It will help us hold meetings,” Secretary Janet Napolitano said. “It will help us build that culture of ‘One DHS.’”

At the groundbreaking, political leaders shoveled dirt with care, but pitched historical references and metaphors with abandon.

“I do have a kind of paternalistic feeling towards DHS,” said Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Connecticut, an early advocate for creating the department. “I feel like we’ve finally given a home to this child we’ve created, which is finally reaching maturity.”

Lieberman likened the creation of the department’s headquarters to the creation of the Pentagon. Ground was broken on the Pentagon on September 11, 1941, exactly 60 years before the 2001 terrorist attacks, he noted.

A Stoneville North Carolina man appeared in court Sept. 2, 2009 on charges connected to making threats to assassinate President Barack Obama.

Steve Lee Stone, 44, of 109 Abernathy Drive, was charged with misuse of 911 system, communicating threats and resisting a public officer. He appeared in court Wednesday.

According to a report from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, a county emergency communications dispatcher received a call July 30 from a caller who stated he was going to assassinate the president. The call was traced to a trailer park on Bob Trail in Stoneville.

Officers were unable to locate the caller, but the United States Secret Service was notified of the call.

About 24 hours later, dispatchers received another call from the same caller. A Secret Service agent and Detective Steve Perkins of the sheriff’s office began investigating and went to Stone’s address.

During the investigation, Stone became combative and refused to listen to verbal commands, the report said. He resisted arrest until a deputy used a Taser to get him under control. He was then handcuffed and taken to the magistrate’s office.

Sheriff Sam Page said this is first time during his tenure that his office has dealt with someone making threats against the president.

“We take all threats serious and were glad when this man was located. We often work with the Secret Service and, fortunately, it is not ordinarily for this reason,” Page said. “I believe this if the first threat made against a president since I have been sheriff.”

Did Blackwater mercenaries murder Iraqis to satiate their thirst for 9/11 revenge?According to Department of Justice files, at least one did, noted Mother Jones associate editor Daniel Schulman on Tuesday morning.(09-08-09)

The revelation was torn from documents relative to the prosecution of Blackwater Worldwide guards involved in a 2007 Baghdad massacre that left 17 dead.
According to the documents Schulman pulled, guards “routinely acted in disregard of the use of force policies,” and one, known as “Raven 23,” allegedly bragged that disregard for Iraqi lives stemmed from a desire for revenge after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. While Bush administration officials eventually admitted this, in the run-up to invasion they repeatedly implied that the middle eastern nation was loosely connected to the attacks.
A key passage excerpted from the filings reads:

This evidence tends to establish that the defendants fired at innocent Iraqis not because they actually believed that they were in imminent danger of serious bodily injury and actually believed that they had no alternative to the use of deadly force, but rather that they fired at innocent Iraqi civilians because of their hostility toward Iraqis and their grave indifference to the harm that their actions would cause.

Daniel Hernandez Ramos

Aurora, CO police have released a new picture of Honduran national Daniel Hernandez-Ramos, 20, and are asking the public for help in apprehending the accused child rapist.

On Sunday, Aug. 9 around 9:30 p.m., the little girl was taken from the parking lot outside the Wentworth Apartments. Officers said the girl was outside retrieving something from the family car, when Ramos grabbed her and assaulted her.

When the girl did not return right away, her mother began searching for her. She found her in another area of the complex, and discovered that her daughter had been sexually assaulted.

Aurora Police Detective Bob Friel said: “He took advantage of the fact that, here’s a 4-year-old, defenseless, little girl on her own in a parking lot and it sickens us to see this kind of thing happen.”.

Ramos had been staying with friends in the same apartment complex, and left immediately following the assault, leaving many of his possessions behind.

Because he is in this country illegally and has no permanent address or valid employment records, police are having a difficult time locating him.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A Republican state lawmaker from Southern California resigned Wednesday amid growing outrage over a videotape that caught him bragging in graphic detail about having sex with a female lobbyist and another woman.

Assemblyman Mike Duvall, whose votes on family oriented legislation received high marks from conservative groups, said in a statement the furor over his comments had begun to divert attention from the work his fellow lawmakers were trying to finish during the final week of their session.

Duvall is married and has two adult children.

In a recording of a legislative hearing, Duvall can be heard talking about a recent sexual escapade with a woman he says is 18 years younger.

“I’m getting into spanking her,” Duvall is heard to say on the videotape.

The other man asks if she likes it, too. Duvall responds: “She goes, ‘I know you like spanking me.’ I said, ‘Yeah, that’s ’cause you’re such a bad girl.’”

It has now been over a week since the video tape and transcript from the remarkable 8/8/09 deposition of former FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds was publicly released. Previously, the Bush Administration invoked the so-called “state secrets privilege” in order to gag Edmonds, in attempting to keep such information from becoming public.

The under-oath, detailed allegations include bribery, blackmail, espionage and infiltration of the U.S. government of, and by current and former members of the U.S. Congress, high-ranking State and Defense Department officials and agents of the government of Turkey. The broad criminal conspiracy is said to have resulted in, among other things, the sale of nuclear weapons technology to black market interests including Pakistan, Iran, North Korea, Libya and others.

Even as many of these allegations had been previously corroborated to varying extents, by a number of official government reports, documents and independent media outlets (largely overseas), not a single major mainstream media outlet in the U.S. has picked up on Edmonds’ startling claims since her deposition has been made fully available.

Granted, last week was a busy news week, with the death of Ted Kennedy, the release of the CIA Inspector General’s report on torture, and the announcement that Michael Jackson’s death was ruled a homicide.

We recently helped expose the outrageous treatment of dozens of soldiers at Fort Bragg, NC with “Echo Platoon - Warehousing soldiers in the homeland” (Sarah Lazare and Dahr Jamail, Tom Dispatch. August 10, 2009).

The Army reacted swiftly, not by improving the situation, but by formally charging the most outspoken soldier, Spc Dustin Stevens, with “desertion”.

The Army has since begun an investigation into these “allegations”; however, it is clear we will need to hold the military accountable for the treatment of our soldiers in Echo.

American death-tech goliath Boeing has announced a long-delayed in-flight firing for the smaller of its two aeroplane raygun-cannon prototypes, the Advanced Tactical Laser (ATL). The ATL blaster, mounted in a Hercules transport aircraft, apparently “defeated” an unoccupied stationary vehicle.

“This milestone demonstrates that directed energy weapon systems will transform the battlespace and save lives,” said Boeing exec Greg Hyslop. “The ATL team has earned a distinguished place in the history of weapon system development.”

In years to come, the secret supertroopers of SOCOM may be able to cause a cell tower to stop working, a vehicle’s fuel tank to suddenly explode, or a single person to inexplicably be incinerated - all completely silently and tracelessly, without anyone knowing they were ever there and not so much as a spent bullet left behind.

In support of the official U.S. assertion that Iran is arming its sworn enemy, the Taliban, the head of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Dennis Blair, has cited a statement by a Taliban commander last year attributing military success against NATO forces to Iranian military assistance.

But the Taliban commander’s claim is contradicted by evidence from the U.S. Defense Department, Canadian forces in Afghanistan and the Taliban itself that the increased damage to NATO tanks by Taliban forces has come from anti-tank mines provided by the United States to the jihadi movement in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

The Taliban claim was cited by ODNI in written responses to questions for the record from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence following testimony by Blair before the Committee Feb. 12, 2009. The responses were released to the Federation of American Scientists under the Freedom of Information Act Jul. 30.

For war journalist Scott Anderson, the most confounding part of his recent assignment for GQ magazine to explore the root of terrorist acts in Russia a decade ago wasn’t the suggestion of treachery and subterfuge he found.
It was the reception his story ultimately received in the United States.

“It was quite mysterious to me,” Anderson says. “All of a sudden, it became clear that they were going to run the article but they were going to try to bury it under a rock as much as they possibly could.”

Anderson, 50, is an accomplished reporter and novelist who has written previously for Harper’s Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, and Vanity Fair.

His investigative piece, published in the September American edition of GQ, challenges the official line on a series of bombings that killed hundreds of people in 1999 in Russia. It profiles a former KGB agent who spoke in great detail and on the record, at no small risk to himself. But instead of trumpeting his reporting, GQ’s corporate owners went to extraordinary lengths to try to ensure no Russians will ever see it.

This is a fact as their endorsed support of Ed Asner who is opposed to gun ownership and is also a devoted socialist. Ed Asner advocates gun control, Asner was also a signatory to the 2002 Not In Our Name petition organized by C. Clark Kissinger and the Revolutionary Communist Party.

Truth is important yes but how can they claim to be Patriotic when they endorse and work with many who are socialist and enemies of our 2nd amendment. With out the 2nd amendment we can not protect freedom it serves as our final option to resist and destroy Tyranny.
