Two armored U.S. Secret Service vehicles, including a limousine sometimes used by Vice President Biden, struck and killed a man hours before dawn Wednesday as he was crossing rain-slicked Suitland Parkway near the District-Maryland border, authorities said.

Some 100 new militia groups have formed since the election of President Barack Obama, says the Southern Poverty Law Center.
In a re-run of the phenomenon seen when President Bill Clinton took office, gun-rights advocates, libertarians, survivalists and others are forming militias as a symbol of their resistance to what they see as an administration that threatens to restrict their right to bear arms and expand government control over the lives of private citizens.
“The truth is that these groups are popping up like mushrooms after a spring rain,” said Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a social-justice group that has been tracking the rise of militias over the past year.
Potok’s group put out a report earlier this year raising the alarm about the resurgence of armed militias. Since then, he told CNN, the group has counted about 100 new groups formed across the country.

A former soldier who handed a discarded shotgun in to police faces at least five years imprisonment for “doing his duty”.
Paul Clarke, 27, was found guilty of possessing a firearm at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday – after finding the gun and handing it personally to police officers on March 20 this year.
The jury took 20 minutes to make its conviction, and Mr Clarke now faces a minimum of five year’s imprisonment for handing in the weapon.
In a statement read out in court, Mr Clarke said: “I didn’t think for one moment I would be arrested.
“I thought it was my duty to hand it in and get it off the streets.”

The right to self-protection-the internal directive of every living creature, be it mouse or man is the most fundamental right of all. It is a right that must be exercised against the predators of the streets, against the predators hidden within agencies of law enforcement, and against the most dangerous predators of all - those to be found in government, whose insidious grasping for power is relentless and never-ending.
We Will Not Disarm. Not in the face of robbers, rapists and murderers who prey upon our families and friends. Nor in the face of police and bureau agents who would turn a blind eye to the Constitution, who would betray the birthright of their countrymen; nor in the face of politicians of the lowest order-those who pander to the ignorant, the weak, the fearful, the naive; those indebted to a virulent strain of the rich who insulate themselves from the dangers imposed upon other Americans and then preach disarmament.

Police look at the broken window where a fire bomb was thrown Thursday morning into the McKeesport office District Justice Eugene Riazzi Jr.
A fire bomb was thrown through a window in a McKeesport building that houses the offices of District Judge Eugene F. Riazzi Jr. on O’Neil Boulevard.
A small fire resulted, but firefighters extinguished it within 30 minutes before it could spread to residential apartments on the second and third floors of the building, emergency dispatchers said.
No injuries were reported, and damage estimates were not immediately available.
The Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating with McKeesport police.
“I wasn’t in any danger,” Judge Riazzi said at the scene. “But,” he said, “It was unsettling because people live in this building.”
The district judge, who is a former police captain in McKeesport, said the fire bomb apparently was thrown through a window into his chambers in the office complex.
The distinct burn pattern indicates that an accelerant was used to fuel the fire.
No arrests have been made. Judge Riazzi said he expects court to resume operations this afternoon.

In a shocking story, a boy was held down by two deputies so that the boy, in middle school, would receive an H1N1 shot during a vaccination clinic held at the Wheeling West Virginia Middle School last Friday.

New disturbing charges have emerged against XE, the infamous private security firm formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide, whose operations came under spotlight after its 2007 carnage in Baghdad.
According to a report by MSNBC and based on alleged sworn declarations by two Blackwater employees in federal court, the firm used child prostitutes at its compound in Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone.
The declarations added Iraqi minors got involved in sexual acts with Blackwater members in exchange for one dollar. It is further alleged that Erik Prince, the firm’s owner, “failed to stop the ongoing use of prostitutes, including child prostitutes, by his men.”
Based on other statements, the firm was involved in another sex scandal; “Prince’s North Carolina operations had an ongoing wife-swapping and sex ring, which was participated in by many of Mr. Prince’s top executives.”
The two employees also alleged that Prince “views himself as a Christian crusader tasked with eliminating Muslims and the Islamic faith from the globe,” The Nation reported.
Prince also allegedly forced health professional to endorse the redeployment of those Blackwater members who had been mental problems, such as excessive drinking and drug abuse.
Other charges against the firm include arms smuggling, money laundering and tax evasion.

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - An ex-wife of Maj. L. Eduardo Caraveo– a man with Tucson ties– has confirmed he was one of the victims of Thursday’s shooting spree in Ft. Hood, Texas.
Maj. Caraveo was an adjunct professor at the University of Arizona who also worked as a case worker for Child Protective Services.
He earned his Ph. D. from the UA in 1986. On his website, he says he has been practicing clinical psychology for 20 years.
Maj. Caraveo was assigned to the 467th Combat Stress Control Army Reserve Detachment at Ft. Hood, according to the Madison.com.
That unit provides mental health and other services to soldiers suffering from combat stress.

When I (Capt Bob Zales) stated last night that November 7, 2009 was a historical day for fishermen and fisheries, little did I truly realize what I meant. Saturday November 7, 2009 was the day that some of the citizens of our country were watching and waiting on the vote by the U.S. House of Representatives on Health Care, clearly a very important subject. I also stated early reports of the impacts from the on the water protests by fishermen, consumers, businesses, and communities had over 2000 participants over 250 miles of coast line from Port St Joe, FL to Orange Beach, AL.
When you view and read the information on the web links below, you will understand I was way off the numbers. Apparently the event on the water yesterday was far more reaching than just 250 miles of coast line. According to the below, it stretched over the coast from the Panhandle of FL through coastal Louisiana. The conservative estimate of participants of only 2000 people now seems to be in the thousands, at this time we do not have an exact number, but after reading and viewing the below I would not be afraid to say probably 10,000 people or more directly supported our effort yesterday.

FORT WALTON BEACH — Local fishermen will speak out this week against federal regulations that have locked down fisheries.
At 10 a.m. Monday, they will gather at the corner of U.S. Highway 98 and Perry Avenue in Fort Walton Beach for a peaceful protest “against fish closures in general,” said Destin charter boat Capt. Greg Marler.
The busy corner has been more noted for panhandlers in the last year or so.“We need a good showing,” said Marler, who asks that all recreational fishermen — private and charter — stand at the intersection and bring a sign if possible.
The fishermen are protesting the National Marine Fisheries Service’s recent decision to which shut down the greater amberjack fishery to recreational anglers in federal waters. The feds closed the red snapper fishery in August.
ON Saturday,November 7 the Destin Charter Boat Association will form a flotilla in Destin Harbor from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by a rally at the Fishermen’s Co-Op, according to charter Capt. Mike Eller.
“There will be banners on all the boats” in protest of the closures, Eller said. The association asks that all recreational fishermen join in to show their support. “We’re calling it a ‘Rally for Recreational Anglers,’ ” Eller said. What the fishermen really need is help from congressional representatives, Eller said. “It falls directly on our congressmen,” he said.
