NEW YORK — A trove of aerial photographs of the collapsing World Trade Center was widely released this week, offering a rare and chilling view from the heavens of the burning twin towers and the apocalyptic shroud of smoke and dust that settled over the city. The images were taken from a police helicopter — the only photographers allowed in the airspace near the skyscrapers on Sept. 11, 2001. They were obtained by ABC after it filed a Freedom of Information Act request last year with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the federal agency that investigated the collapse.
The chief curator of the planned Sept. 11 museum pronounced the pictures “a phenomenal body of work.”
The photos are “absolutely core to understanding the visual phenomena of what was happening,” said Jan Ramirez of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. They are “some of the most exceptional images in the world, I think, of this event.”

Cop “Jokes” About Murdering Open-Carry Advocates — See the Video

Rod Tuason apparently suffers from a personality disorder common to professional bullies — a tendency to think that bullying behavior is hilarious. This could explain why Tuason, a detective with the East Palo Alto Police Department, used his Facebook page to suggest that police should shoot “open carry” advocates who carry firearms in public.

East Palo Alto Mayor David E. Woods told a local TV station that while he disapproved of Tuason’s comments, he is “concerned — although it’s legal — about people walking around with firearms.”

What Woods means, of course, is that he’s concerned about law-abiding private citizens exercising the innate individual right to armed self-defense, rather than the fact that the community he represents plays host to scores of armed people employed as enforcers by the political caste.
Some might say that Tuason, who appears to be an aspiring stand-up comedian, should keep his day job. In fact, he should quit that job and find honest work.

WTF: Police stage burglaries on homes

February 11, 2010 By: Freedom Fighter Category: Uncategorized No Comments →

Policemen are posing as burglars to stage late night raids on homes.
People whose properties are an easy target could be woken in the middle of the night by police who are promising to try windows and doors in a bid to cut break-ins.

Code-named Operation Golden, householders in Cheshire who fall foul of their checks will be roused with a lecture from officers on what they could have lost. Insp Gareth Woods, heading up the operation which begins in Macclesfield, admits some people will not be happy about the early hours wake-up calls. He said: “If we’re told to get lost then that’s a risk we take. It’s a difficult balance to strike. The bottom line is officers get a mixed reception when doing anything like this, but I say to any of my officers that if they see an insecure car or house to let the owner know, no matter what time of day or night. “Most reasonable people will say thanks for letting them know and be grateful.”

He added: “Obviously we will be very discreet and won’t be trying every door. We will target areas where we have intelligence burglaries will be happening.” The operation, which will be rolled out across east Cheshire, is a response to nearly 40 per cent of all burglaries being through unlocked doors or open windows.

Police and community support officers are also distributing thousands of door-hanger cards which list security checks to be carried out before householders leave home. Chief Insp Peter Crowcroft said: “There are burglars who specialize in sneak-ins. They walk around streets, nipping in and out of gardens and trying doors.

“Most of them don’t care if anyone is in the house. Even if the family is in the next room watching TV, the criminal will walk in, grab a bag, purse or some other item of value and be out again in seconds. “Operation Golden is about raising the profile of security at home and keeping people safe.”

Snowpocalypse: Why Being Prepared is a Good Idea

“One more piece of evidence showing why it’s good to have a week or two (AT LEAST) of food & water on hand at all times.  And 72-hours worth in your vehicle too if possible.  This kind of craziness should make it clear just how bad things could get in no time at all if a REAL, ACTUAL emergency ever happened.”
The recent weather events on the east coast should be a wake up call to any of you out there that may have thought about prepping but haven’t yet pulled the trigger.
As the storms rolled in, the grocery store shelves cleared out. Usually, groceries stores can predict their traffic flows and sales, and they stock their shelves and hold inventory based on these estimates. But when a far-from-equilibrium event occurs, the grocery store’s forecasting model falls apart. Instead of the normal traffic pattern, the store may get hit with 10 or 100 times the regular traffic.
The result is akin to a run on the banks.
