A Missouri VA hospital is under fire because it may have exposed more than 1,800 veterans to life-threatening diseases such as hepatitis and HIV.
John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis has recently mailed letters to 1,812 veterans telling them they could contract hepatitis B, hepatitis C and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after visiting the medical center for dental work, said Rep. Russ Carnahan.
Carnahan said Tuesday he is calling for a investigation into the issue and has sent a letter to President Obama about it.
“This is absolutely unacceptable,” said Carnahan, a Democrat from Missouri. “No veteran who has served and risked their life for this great nation should have to worry about their personal safety when receiving much needed healthcare services from a Veterans Administration hospital.”
The issue stems from a failure to clean dental instruments properly, the hospital told CNN affiliate KSDK. (more…)
President Barack Obama has declared a federal emergency exists in Texas as Tropical Storm Alex builds toward hurricane strength and approaches south Texas and northern Mexico.
According to a White House statement issued Tuesday, Obama has ordered federal help to augment the state and local responses to the developing emergency.
The declaration authorizes the Federal Emergency Management Agency “to coordinate all disaster relief efforts” and “provide appropriate assistance.”
The declaration includes Aransas, Atascosa, Bee, Bexar, Brooks, Cameron, Comal, Duval, Guadalupe, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen, Medina, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio, Starr, Webb, Willacy, Wilson, and Zapata counties in south Texas.
Casey Nunez, a Louisiana resident, visited Pensacola beach in the last 48 hours.
He reports that 400 people on the beach became sick with a variety of problems like blisters, sore throat and lung problems, symptoms that Nunez himself says that he experienced, going as far as to show the blister on his tongue in the video below.
Nunez says that Florida officials, fully aware of the prior day’s incident involving sick beach goers, have actually deemed the beaches safe in Pensacola by changing the red danger flags on the beach to yellow, with Beach Patrol reportedly saying that they have everything under control.
It has been reported that our well-oiled government is planning mass evacuations of Gulf coast cities. Sources close to the government like investigative journalist Wayne Madsen reported: “Plans are being put in place for the mandatory evacuation of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Mandeville, Hammond, Houma, Belle Chase, Chalmette, Slidell, Biloxi, Gulfport, Pensacola, Hattiesburg, Mobile, Bay Minette, Fort Walton Beach, Panama City, Crestview, and Pascagoula.”
Council on Foreign Relations member, Matt Simmons, was quoted on June 23rd in the Washington Post, “We’re going to have to evacuate the gulf states. Read full article: click here
A California “sanctuary city” has fallen victim to illegal immigration – going bankrupt and firing all of its public employees, The city of Maywood, Calif., hit the budget wall after it decided not only to be a sanctuary city, but to be a completely “safe haven” for illegal aliens seeking protection from deportation.
“Crushed by the recession and falling tax revenues, the city is disbanding the police force and firing all public sector employees,” Matthew Garrahan wrote in the Financial Times, never mentioning that illegal immigration was the problem. Read full story: click here
The admission came in an agreement that Charlotte, North Carolina-based Wachovia struck with federal prosecutors in March, and it sheds light on the largely undocumented role of U.S. banks in contributing to the violent drug trade that has convulsed Mexico for the past four years. That’s nice. Guns and ammunition cost money - lots of it. Getting that money requires some means of transporting it and “laundering” it. For that, we turn to the largest financial institutions in the world, who, it turns out, have never been prosecuted for these felonious acts. “Wachovia’s blatant disregard for our banking laws gave international cocaine cartels a virtual carte blanche to finance their operations,” says Jeffrey Sloman, the federal prosecutor who handled the case. TACOMA, Wash. – The Pierce County Health Department was evacuated Tuesday morning 06-30-2010 due to a bomb threat. Tacoma Police say the threat was left on a note. Bomb sniffing dogs searched the building, but nothing was found. The evacuation was lifted.
A retired Chicago police commander suspected of using electric shocks, suffocation and mock executions to force suspects to confess was found guilty on Monday of lying about the brutality.
Jon Burge, 62, was tried on perjury and obstruction of justice charges because the alleged torture occurred too long ago for him to be directly accused of those crimes.
The guilty verdict on all three counts in a federal indictment means he could face up to 45 years in prison. Read full story click here
VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. –A Valencia County man was arrested after police found him driving around with dangerous explosives. Investigators said they are alarmed because they think the suspect stole them from the military, said he used to serve in the armed forces and had access to them for years.

This seizure was five days ago. Located on the Arizona border! Exactly where did you hear about it in OUR media ?????
Thank God for the border patrol that this did not come over the border.
This slide show “graphic” but it tells the story Let’s quit trying to decide who is violating our federal laws “to make a better life” - and ENFORCE the laws across the board on EVERYONE violating them - Nothing discriminatory about that amigos !!!!!!!
That way we won’t have to lament or wonder just how many of the illegal aliens legalized (synonymous with rewarded) under the latest attempt to legislate away the millions who have spit on our laws - are MS-13, Zetas, cartel members, and other scum that would be “legal”. There are MANY Hispanic men and women that I both love and respect that understand and support Arizona and any citizen’s desire to keep our country a safe place to live and raise our children and grandchildren. I hope we can ignore and recognize the majority of the naysayers for the photo-op, attention-loving clowns they are - and start coming together as AMERICANS that want what’s best for AMERICA !!!
In the case of a hurricane hitting the 250-mile wide slick and pushing it over sand dunes and into beach towns, residents fear they’ll face not only mass evacuations, but potential permanent relocation.
On Friday, the Coast Guard announced it would start moving boats and rigs away from the Deepwater Horizon geyser site 120 hours before a hurricane’s approach, at that point ending all collection efforts and delaying the drilling of relief wells, which are now on track to plug the well by late August – the height of the hurricane season. The geyser blowing at full tilt without a containment cap could spew between 35,000 and 60,000 barrels of oil a day, possibly more.
Moreover, scientists have predicted one of the busiest Gulf hurricane seasons in years, expecting between 14 and 23 named storms and 14 hurricanes this summer – compared to a long-term average of 11 named storms per season. Read Full Story
Considerable evidence, including photographs, strongly suggests that once again the police are implanting “Black Bloc” rioters into the peaceful crowds–at taxpayer expense. Very interesting article. The photographs are rather conclusive. You may laugh, because once again it’s the boots that give them away. It’s the same game that they were busted at playing when they implanted “anarchists” into the crowds in 2007 at the Montebello ’security and prosperity partnership’ summit in Quebec. In that previous instance, CBC and other mainstream news coverage following upon widespread outrage forced them to admit what they had done, which they did! Will they have to admit it again? Take a look at the photos and decide for yourself. Read Full Story
A Texas man has sued his local police department, saying he was arrested for taking a picture of a police officer when the officer entered his home without permission.
According to the lawsuit (PDF), Sgt. Justin Alderete of the Sealy, Texas, police department arrived at the home of Francisco Olvera in October, 2009, apparently responding to a noise complaint. Olvera had been playing music on his computer speakers while working outside on his patio.
The sergeant asked Olvera for identification. When Olvera went inside his home to grab his ID, Sgt. Alderete followed him inside. Believing the officer didn’t have a right to enter his home without permission, Olvera picked up his cellphone and took a photo of the officer. At that point, the lawsuit states, Alderete accused Olvera of “illegal photography” and arrested him.

UPDATE: Seventy-five people were arrested in downtown Toronto Saturday after G20 protests turned violent, and police confirmed they used bean bag guns, pepper spray and tear gas in skirmishes with protesters.
The protests came as the leaders of the world’s largest economies gathered to discuss the economic crisis that swept the world over the past two years.
Toronto police praised the vast majority of protesters, who marched peacefully through the city core to draw attention to issues such as environmental degradation, poverty and human rights.
But some activists were angered at the “pre-arrests” of four G20 protest organizers by Toronto police in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday.
Living notice, police did an illegal cursory search of some of the people on the premises as well as the house itself,” Thorne said.
Police Tasered an 86-year-old disabled grandma in her bed and stepped on her oxygen hose until she couldn’t breathe, after her grandson called 911 seeking medical assistance, the woman and her grandson claim in Oklahoma City Federal Court. Though the grandson said, “Don’t Taze my granny!” an El Reno police officer told another cop to “Taser her!” and wrote in his police report that he did so because the old woman “took a more aggressive posture in her bed,” according to the complaint. A senior US official says dozens of Americans have joined what he called “terrorist groups” and said they are posing a threat to the United States and its interests abroad.
Deputy White House national security adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism John Brennan made the comment during an interview with the Washington Times newspaper on Thursday.
“There are, in my mind, dozens of US persons who are in different parts of the world, and they are very concerning to us,” said the senior homeland security consultant to US President Barack Obama.
He did not, however, disclose further information about his “list of American terrorists.”
When The Washington Post’s Dana Priest first revealed (in passing)back in January that the Obama administration had compiled a hit list of American citizens targeted for assassination, she wrote that “as of several months ago, the CIA list included three U.S. citizens.” In April, both the Post and the NYT confirmed that the administration had specifically authorized the assassination of Anwar al-Awlaki.Today, The Washington Times‘ Eli Lake has an interview with Obama’s top Terrorism adviser John Brennan in which Brennan strongly suggests that the number of U.S. citizens targeted for assassination could actually be “dozens”:
A suspected pipe bomb that ended up at the Welch Post Office was in the process of being detonated Friday afternoon.
Goodhue County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kris Weiss said a rural mail carrier saw a group of males near what appeared to be a stick of dynamite on Ravina Trail in rural Dakota County. The carrier picked up the device – later determined to be a suspected pipe bomb – for fear that children might be injured by it. (more…)

A rare and endangered species of sea turtle is being burned alive in BP’s controlled burns of the oil swirling around the Gulf of Mexico, and a boat captain tasked with saving them says the company has blocked rescue efforts.
Mike Ellis, a boat captain involved in a three-week effort to rescue as many sea turtles from unfolding disaster as possible, says BP effectively shut down the operation by preventing boats from coming out to rescue the turtles. Read more
Foreign Ministry reports circulating in the Kremlin today are warning that an already explosive situation in the United States is about to get a whole lot worse as a new law put forth by President Obama is said capable of seeing up to 500,000 American citizens jailed for the crime of opposing their government.
Sparking the concern of Russian diplomats over the growing totalitarian bent of the Obama government is the planned reintroduction of what these reports call one of the most draconian laws ever introduced in a free society that is titled “The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act”.
The burgeoning toxic gas cloud will surface, killing everything it touches, and set off a supersonic tsunami with the wave traveling somewhere between 400 to 600 miles per hour. While the entire Gulf coastline is vulnerable, the state most exposed to the fury of a supersonic wave towering 100 feet or more is Florida.
The Sunshine State only averages about 6 inches above sea level. A supersonic tsunami would literally sweep away everything from Miami to the panhandle in a matter of minutes. Loss of human life would be virtually instantaneous and measured in the millions. Of course the states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and southern region of Georgia—a state with no Gulf coastline—would also experience tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of casualties. “Sheriff’s deputies are holding a man who bought a scooter Thursday, and when told he had to register it, argued, announcing he would shoot or blow up anyone who told him he had to”
“Friday afternoon, he parked the scooter near a gas main on Sierra Street, near the courthouses,”
With the BP oil leak heating up (literally), there is a distinct possibility of noxious fumes and toxic hurricanes hitting our coasts over the coming months. Because there is minimal research on the subject available to the public, it is difficult to establish what is or is not a threat. Nonetheless, we advise those of our readers on or near the coast to remain aware of any developments regarding the possibility of emergencies or evacuations in their areas. Read Full Story click here
