ATF Declaring War on Honest Gun Owners

Time for Congress to rein in this rogue agency

They are coming for your guns any way they can.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is waging a war on innocent gun owners, and not surprisingly, the Obama administration has done nothing to keep them in check.

You are no doubt aware of how the agency has been going after honest gun dealers in recent years.  Combine that with byzantine federal laws and regulations — subject to BATF interpretation — and it’s no wonder the number of FFL holders has decreased almost 80%.

Then there was former National Guardsman David Olofson. In 2008, Olofson’s loaned AR-15 malfunctioned at a range — firing a three-round burst with a single trigger pull.  The ATF could only replicate the malfunction after experimenting with different types of ammunition behind closed doors.  Having achieved the result they wanted, the ATF labeled Olofson’s gun a machine gun, and he was sentenced to three years in prison for an illegal “transfer.”

The agency also put millions of gun owners in its crosshairs when it reclassified shotguns that are equipped with pistol grips.  By decreeing in 2009 that such firearms are not “shotguns,” the ATF acted as a de facto legislative-making body… quietly turning millions of gun owners into potential criminals overnight.

A slim majority of Republicans are still in disbelief that President Barack Obama, now in his third year in office, was born in the United States and therefore is legally eligible to be president, according to a poll by the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling.

The survey looked at whom these “birthers” prefer in the 2012 Republican presidential primary contest. Among the 51 percent of Republicans who think Obama was born outside of America, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was preferred by 24 percent, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin by 19 percent, former Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) by 14 percent and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney by 11 percent.

Border Patrol Controls Just 44 Percent of South

February 17, 2011 By: Freedom Fighter Category: Uncategorized No Comments →

While they’ve made strides in arresting illegals and building a fence along the U.S.-Mexico line, the Border Patrol only has “operational control” of 44 percent of the southern border, and of that only 15 percent is air tight, according to new General Accountability Office report.

The GAO said that the Mexican border with Texas has the most holes, especially between Fort Hancock and Brownsville, where 70 percent to 90 percent of the state line is at the two lowest levels of protection, “monitored” and “low-level monitored.” The GAO said that efforts to detector stop illegal immigrants from crossing there were poor. “Border Patrol reported that these two levels of control were not acceptable for border security,” said the GAO.

Two TSA agents were busted today at Kennedy Airport for stealing $160,000 in cash from bags, authorities said.

Davon Webb, 30, and Couman Perad, who turned 36 today, were arrested after admitting they had regularly stolen from checked bags, sources said.

In one instance, Perad, who joined the Transportation Security Administration in 2002, and Webb, who has been an agent since 2004, stole $39,000 on Jan. 30 from a bag at Terminal 8, sources said.

The passenger whose money was stolen was on his way to Argentina, sources said.

The $39,000 was later found in their homes after TSA notified Port Authority police, sources said.
