Dear Sean,
Today I was incensed at the conclusion of a traditional Serbian-Orthodox funeral for my beloved 85-year-old uncle, Daniel Martich, who proudly served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. During the committal service at a Pittsburgh cemetery the local military detachment performed their ritual,
then folded and presented the American Flag to my aunt. As I’m sure you have witnessed during military funerals, a soldier bends to one knee and recites a scripted message to a surviving relative that begins ‘On behalf of the President of the United States and a grateful nation, I wish to present you with this flag in appreciation for your husband’s service’ However, today the dialogue was ‘On behalf of the Secretary of Defense and a grateful nation…’
After the service, I approached the soldier who presented the flag to my aunt to inquire about the change in language. His response was:
“The White House notified all military funeral service detachments to immediately remove ‘the President’ and insert ‘the Secretary of Defense’.
I couldn’t believe what I heard! The soldier just smiled and said, “You can draw your own conclusion, Sir, but that was the order”. He, too, was ashamed of what he was required to say. Obama has taken off the gloves.

My only response to this endless cesspool of anti-American rhetoric dripping from his mouth is to borrow a phrase “with one minor change” uttered by another temporary Washington resident living in government housing (his wife!): “Today for the first time in my adult life, I am ashamed of the current U.S. President!” I did not serve in the military but my love of country parallels that of people like my late uncle who bled red, white and blue. As a second generation Serbian-American who’s heritage produced many patriotic military men and women who fought for freedom both in the United States as well as in the former Yugoslavia (most recently in Kosovo against the slaughter of Serbs by Muslim extremists), I implore you to make the American people aware of this little-known or, at least, publicly acknowledged fact.

May God Bless you and your family during these difficult times. Your voice of reason is a welcome change from the insanity plastered across the country by the liberal media. Keep up the great work and thank you for your service to our country.

Most Libertarians have heard about the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and its kidnapping (indefinite detention).

In December, Congress passed and the President signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Buried in NDAA’s hundreds of pages, Section 1021 purports to authorize the President to use the military to kidnap American citizens for suspicion of being terrorists. The President is REQUIRED to either hold them indefinitely, prosecute them before a military tribunal, or transfer them to a foreign country (rendition).

Section 1021 is a novel new power. It pretends that the United States is a battlefield and her citizens are enemy combatants who are not entitled to the protections of the Bill of Rights. We’re talking about…

* trial by jury
* representation by counsel
* confrontation of witnesses
* due process of law administered by impartial judges

Interpol has arrested 25 suspected members of the ‘Anonymous’ hackers group in a swoop on over a dozen cities in Europe and Latin America, the global police body said Tuesday.

“Operation Unmask was launched in mid-February following a series of coordinated cyber-attacks originating from Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Spain,” said the world police body based in the French city of Lyon.

The statement cited attacks on the websites of the Colombian Ministry of Defence and the presidency, as well as on Chile’s Endesa electricity company and its National Library, among others.

The operation was carried out by police from Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Spain, the statement said, with 250 items of computer equipment and mobile phones seized in raids on 40 premises in 15 cities.

Police also seized credit cards and cash from the suspects, aged 17 to 40.

The anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks began publishing on Monday more than 5 million emails from a U.S.-based global security analysis company that has been likened to a shadow CIA.

The emails, snatched by hackers/cyber patriots, could unmask sensitive sources and throw light on the murky world of intelligence-gathering by the company known as Stratfor, which counts Fortune 500 corporations among its subscribers.

On Monday February 27th, 2012, WikiLeaks began publishing The Global Intelligence Files, over five million e-mails from the Texas headquartered “global intelligence” company Stratfor. The e-mails date between July 2004 and late December 2011. They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal’s Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defense Intelligence Agency.

The emails show Stratfor’s web of informers, pay-off structure, payment laundering techniques and psychological methods.

Robbery Comes 2 Weeks After State Department’s Warning

To Avoid 14 Mexican States

Twenty-two Carnival Cruise Lines passengers were robbed of valuables and their passports during a shore excursion in the Mexico seaside resort of Puerto Vallarta, cruise officials said late Saturday.

The passengers were robbed Thursday during a guided trail excursion, according to a statement released by the cruise line.

The cruise line did not provide details of the robbery, saying only that there were no injuries and the tour was suspended on future sailings under further notice.

“Carnival is working with guests to reimburse them for lost valuables and assist with lost passports or other forms of identification,” the statement said.

The robbery comes two weeks after the U.S. State Department issued a travel warning to Americans to avoid all but essential travel to all or parts of 14 Mexican states, including the state of Jalisco. Puerto Vallarta is the sixth-largest city in Jalisco.

The State Department also warned travelers to use caution in visiting part of Baja California, Colima and Morelos.

KITCHENER — A plastic toy gun is to blame for the mayhem that saw a man arrested at his daughter’s school this week.

It was found in the home of the Kitchener father of four after he was arrested over a drawing his daughter drew at the school on Wednesday. Jessie Sansone was strip-searched but not charged.

Sansone’s four-year-old daughter Neaveh had drawn a picture of a man holding a gun and said it was her daddy, triggering fears that the family home contained a weapon that was a threat to the children.

The school board, police and child welfare officials all say proper procedure was followed in the case.

“We did what we were supposed to do,” said Gregg Bereznick, the Waterloo Region District School Board’s superintendent of education.

Neaveh’s teacher at Forest Hill Public School was concerned by the drawing and called Family and Children’s Services, who assessed the case and called police. After being interviewed by police at the school, Sansone was handcuffed and taken to the police station in a cruiser.

There, Sansone said, he was forced to remove his clothes for a full strip search.

The FBI then came and got Dierdre Celeste Cortes and took her to American Services inside the Embassy, where both Francisco Primitivo Cortes and Dierdre Celeste Cortes applied for the repatriot programe for Emergency Medical treatment due to the catastrophic medical problems due to the horrific abuse by San Diego CPS.

The American Embassy had to get special permission from Washington DC due to the fact that San Diego had a fake terrorism warrant for Dierdre Celeste Cortes and had Francisco Primitivo Cortes on the missing and exploited list. The American Embassy contacted San Diego to let them know they were flying Dierdre Celeste Cortes and Francisco Primitivo Cortes into Atlanta for emergency medical treatment. San Diego was outraged and panicked, so they decided they had to pull some illegal moves to get Francisco Cortes before he could tell authorities in America out side there corrupt system what all they had done to him and before a doctor would be legally obligated to report this child trafficking.

San Diego sent a fake arrest warrant to the Atlanta I.C.E. office. The Atlanta I.C.E. agents decided to completly over look the waivers and request for Francisco Primitivo Cortes to be allowed to receive Medical treatment. In fact Dierdre Celeste Cortes repeated 4 times her son needed to go to the hospital. I.C.E. stated that their policy was to serve warrant before any medical needs. They also refused to take a report that San Diego was trafficking children and had beat, raped, starved, druged and put this child in 3 ft by 4 ft boxes. His catastrophic injuries were from these monsters and that he needed protection from them. Instead they over looked total logic and deciced to enforce this fake warrant. The Clayton County Sheriff allegedly refused to stop this action despite the fact that he reportedly was informed about this child allegations and had proof. Every single authority refused to respect the American Embassy request for this child to receive medical treatment but Instead put him on a plane and hand delivered him to his alleged child traffickers. Even though his catastrophic injuries are so obviously evident! The child had big bald spots in his head from his hair falling out his mother was begging and screamming for medical treatment but I.C.E. did not care about the American Embassy waivers nor the child’s or mother’s request for protection from these child traffickers and torture. Please call and tell them how EVIL they are for giving a child to these child traffickers.

Jonathon Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, reports on a disturbing case in which a state judge in Pennsylvania threw out an assault case involving a Muslim attacking an atheist for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

Judge Mark Martin, an Iraq war veteran and a convert to Islam, threw the case out in what appears to be an invocation of Sharia law.

The incident occurred at the Mechanicsburg, Pa., Halloween parade where Ernie Perce, an atheist activist, marched as a zombie Muhammad. Talaag Elbayomy, a Muslim, attacked Perce, and he was arrested by police.

Words almost fail.

The Washington Post recently reported on an appeals court decision to maintain an injunction to stop the implementation of an amendment to the Oklahoma state constitution that bans the use of Sharia law in state courts. The excuse the court gave was that there was no documented case of Sharia law being invoked in an American court. Judge Martin would seem to have provided that example, which should provide fodder for the argument as the case goes through the federal courts.

The text of the First Amendment could not be clearer. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof-” It does not say “unless somebody, especially a Muslim, is angered.” Indeed Judge Martin specifically decided to respect the establishment of a religion, in this case Islam.

That Judge Martin should be removed from the bench and severely sanctioned goes almost without saying. He clearly had no business hearing the case in the first place, since he seems to carry an emotional bias. He also needs to retake a constitutional law course. Otherwise, a real can of worms has been opened up, permitting violence against people exercising free speech.

It should be noted that another atheist, dressed as a Zombie Pope, was marching beside the Zombie Muhammad. No outraged Catholics attacked him.

Judge Martin threw the case out on the grounds that Elbayomy was obligated to attack Perce because of his culture and religion. Judge Martin stated that the First Amendment of the Constitution does not permit people to provoke other people. He also called Perce, the plaintiff in the case, a “doofus.” In effect, Perce was the perpetrator of the assault, in Judge Martin’s view, and Elbayomy the innocent. The Sharia law that the Muslim attacker followed trumped the First Amendment.

The national debt would balloon under tax policies championed by three of the four major Republican candidates for president, according to an independent analysis of tax and spending proposals so far offered by the campaigns.

The lone exception is Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who would pair a big reduction in tax rates with even bigger cuts in government services, slicing about $2 trillion from future borrowing.

According to the report released Thursday by U.S. Budget Watch, a project of the bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum and former House speaker Newt Gingrich would do the most damage to the nation’s finances, offering tax and spending policies likely to require trillions of dollars in fresh borrowing.

Both men have proposed to sharply cut taxes but have not identified spending cuts sufficient to make up for the lost cash, the report said. By 2021, the debt would rise by about $4.5 trillion under Santorum’s policies and by about $7 trillion under Gingrich’s plan, pushing the portion of the debt held by outside investors to well over 100 percent of the overall economy, the study said.

A New Hampshire man stumbled upon the terrifying sight of a burglary in process in his home, and took decisive action with a firearm, but now he could face years in jail for foiling the robbery.

Foxnews.com has the details of the incident which already has 2nd Amendment advocates up in arms:

“Dennis Fleming, 61, of Farmington, was arrested for reckless conduct after the Saturday incident at his 19th century farmhouse. The single grandfather had returned home to find that his home had been burglarized and spotted Joseph Hebert, 27, climbing out of a window at a neighbor’s home. Fleming said he yelled “Freeze!” before firing his gun into the ground, then held Hebert at gunpoint until police arrived.”

Sounds like a good outcome to most, doesn’t it? Apparently not to New Hampshire police.

Despite the fact that no one was injured in the incident– and the fact that the New Hampshire legislature is considering passage of a version of the “castle doctrine”– two arrests were made at the scene.

For foiling the robbery of his home, and defending himself from possibly imminent harm if the burglar was armed, Fleming faces a similar prison sentence to the person who he claims was invading his home.

While state authorities consider whether Fleming acted within New Hampshire statutes for the protection of life and property, Fleming remains very worried about the possible outcome.

“I have 14 grandchildren, I don’t want to be a felon and go to jail,” he told Fox. “I’m kind of wound up about it.”

Fleming’s seven rifles and his .38 caliber handgun have already been seized by police.

Some New Hampshire locals are already letting it be known that charges against Fleming would be a total affront to the right to bear arms and basic common sense.

Penny Dean, a spokeswoman for the Gun Owners of New Hampshire, has claimed her organization is “absolutely outraged.”

Adam Kokesh, candidate for the Republican nomination for the US House of Representatives from the Third District of New Mexico, is doing his best to deceive the electorate. He portrays himself as a libertarian conservative, but he is neither libertarian nor conservative (unless he reinvents himself again). Most egregiously, he is attempting to portray himself as a patriotic anti-war/anti-military veteran in a manner reminiscent of John Kerry and Vietnam Veterans against the War (VVAW), in which Kerry tarnished the valor of his brothers-in-arms in order to advance his political career.

As did VVAW, Kokesh’s Iraq Veterans against the War (IVAW) holds that America is an imperialistic country, that the military is merely a tool of the government, and that our soldiers are little more than marauders and murderers who, in the words of John Kerry, behave “in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan.”

I first met Adam when he and a motley group of Code Pink, MoveOn.org, IVAW (Iraq Veterans against the War), and other “representatives” of radical anti-American organizations formed up in front of the Army recruiting station in Washington, DC. Their clear intent was to create a disturbance, but the presence of a few dozen Gathering of Eagles members caused them to reconsider their plans.

I approached Adam and struck up a conversation, during the course of which I learned that he considered himself to be a libertarian. I replied that I considered myself a libertarian, as well, and that perhaps we could agree to disagree on the specific issue of the Iraq war. He seemed amenable to that, but his group reconvened in front of the recruiting station a few weeks later and trashed the place. It was then that I realized that the Adam Kokeshes of the world cannot be relied upon to compromise.

The next time I encountered Adam was last summer at an economic conference in St. Louis. That was when I first learned that he was running for Congress. He presided over a “promote Kokesh” seminar that I attended. He spouted off a basic libertarian message without including any of his own biography, which is, to say the least, nasty. Significantly, he claimed to have been honorably discharged as a sergeant from the US Marine Corps. Both claims are false, as will be demonstrated below.

There was also a picture of Arpaio on the site with text claiming, “Wanted: Dead or Alive. You’re next Joe, and watch your back, bitch.”

An FBI SWAT team, acting on a request from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, entered the home and at one point evacuated the area after discovering what appeared to be an improvised explosive device, MCSO said. A bomb squad later determined the device to be a prop.

As many as eight people were suspected to be living in the home that had been under surveillance for a number of days in preparation for the raid. The FBI in Portland chose Monday as the day for the raid because it was a holiday and a nearby elementary school would be closed, according to MCSO.

Deputies served a search warrant at 33-year-old Adam Eugene Cox’s home. A computer and other evidence was seized.

On Friday, Cox was arrested and taken into custody on an unrelated warrant for assault. He’s being investigated as the prime suspect in the Arpaio death threat investigation.

According to MCSO, Cox’s postings stated that the Sheriff and his family would be killed:

“I plan to kill Arpaio first. He will be filled with a thousand bullet holes before the year is out. I promise you this. He won’t f*** with Obama. He will be buried 10 feet under and his whole family will be murdered along with him.”

Shortly before 2 pm authorities got a call for a suspicious device found inside a vehicle near the intersection of Cincinnati and Olympic. Police say the owner of the car had a flat tire and left the car parked on the side of the road but it’s not known how the device got inside his car.

The bomb squad was called in, they analyzed the device, and determined it could be a threat to the community. Officers say the device inside the car looked like it had a fuse and could possibly be explosives. FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — A sheriff seeking the GOP nomination for an Arizona Congressional seat was forced Saturday to confirm he is gay amid allegations of misconduct made by a man with whom he previously had a relationship.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu on Saturday denied claims he tried to threaten the man, a Mexican immigrant and a former campaign volunteer, with deportation if their past relationship was made public. The man’s allegations were first published Friday in The New Times, a Phoenix alternative weekly magazine.

Paul Babeu’s Mexican Gay Ex-Lover Says Sheriff’s Attorney Threatened Him With Deportation

According to the Phoenix New Times who broke the story;

Jose says he met Babeu in October 2006 on gay.com, a dating website. What started with an online invitation from Babeu for the two to get together, he says, turned into not only a personal relationship but a professional one.

Jose says he created and maintained Babeu’s campaign websites, his Facebook page, and hisTwitter account. Babeu didn’t pay him for his online services, he claims.

Jose says Babeu told him that he loved him and was with him exclusively. But Jose suspected Babeu was lying. The relationship soured, and Jose believes that Babeu sent DeRose after him. He says DeRose demanded the passwords to Babeu’s websites and social-media accounts. Jose says he complied but that Babeu and his attorney also wanted Jose to sign a document that would bind him legally to keep silent about the relationship.

Text Messages Confirm Relationship

Jose shared some of the text messages between him and Babeu. The text messages — many still saved on Jose’s cell phone — appear to be sent from Babeu’s business cell phone. Babeu identifies himself on his voice mail and says he is the sheriff of Pinal County.

May 1881 US explorers approached Jeannette Island and Henrietta Island and claimed them for the United States. According to some US individuals, including the group State Department Watch, eight Arctic islands currently controlled by Russia, including Wrangel Island, are claimed by the United States. However, according to the United States Department of State no such claim exists. The USSR/USA Maritime Boundary Treaty, which has yet to be approved by the Russian Duma, does not address the status of these islands nor the maritime boundaries associated with them.

The Obama Administration is reportedly giving away Wrangell, Bennett, Jeannette and Henrietta islands in Alaska to Russia. The federal government drew the line to put these seven Alaskan islands on the Russian side.

The organized collection of cyber rebels said it attacked the FTC’s consumer protection business center, consumer.gov, and the National Consumer Protection Week website. Both sites were replaced with a violent German-language video (see below) satirizing the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, or ACTA. As of this posting, both the sites appeared to be down.

ACTA was recently signed by several countries, but restrictions on online piracy have prompted a growing protest movement.

A call by the Associated Press to the Trade Commission rang unanswered before business hours Friday. An email seeking comment was not immediately returned.

Iraq War Vet Indicted For Arsenal Of Grenades, Guns, And IEDs In Bronx Apartment

Police also say that three other “works in progress” were discovered, including an IED that had been prepared with electrical wires, but no timing device had been installed yet. Two other cylinders were also discovered that could have been used to make fire bombs.

A former Fort Bragg soldier and Iraq war veteran faces federal charges after police found a “small arsenal” of stolen military weapons and explosives at his New York City home, authorities say.

Federal documents unsealed Thursday outline charges against Anthony Cibelli, a former Army sergeant.

He is accused of stealing two grenades and other military weapons that he smuggled home from Iraq, according to the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Cibelli, 24, served tours of duty in Iraq in 2006 and 2008. He most recently served at Fort Bragg before moving to New York.

Federal authorities began an investigation after a New York police gang squad found the weapons while executing a search warrant at Cibelli’s Bronx apartment in late December, an FBI official said. In addition to grenades, they found six M-16 30-round magazines, two improvised explosive devices, four firearms and several rounds of ammunition.

The grenades were found on a roof outside Cibelli’s bedroom. Authorities say Cibelli told them he threw them onto his roof after panicking when police arrived.

Update at 4:50 p.m. ET: A bail hearing has been set for 29-year-old Amine El Khalifi of Alexandria, Va., an unemployed Moroccan who authorities said is in the United States illegally. He arrived when he was 16 and overstayed his visitor’s visa.

According to a counterterrorism official, El Khalifi “expressed interest in killing at least 30 people and considered targeting a building in Alexandria and a restaurant, synagogue and a place where military personnel gather in Washington before he settled on the Capitol after canvassing that area a couple of times,” the Associated Press writes. During the year-long investigation, El Khalifi detonated explosives at a quarry in the capital region with undercover operatives. He is not believed to be affiliated with al-Qaeda, officials said.

In February 2011, the Department of Homeland Security announced that the agency planned to implement a program that would monitor media content, including social media data. The proposed initiatives would gather information from “online forums, blogs, public websites, and messages boards” and disseminate information to “federal, state, local, and foreign government and private sector partners.” The program would be executed, in part, by individuals who established fictitious usernames and passwords to create covert social media profiles to spy on other users. The agency stated it would store personal information for up to five years.

As the result of EPIC v. DHS, a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, EPIC has obtained nearly thee hundred pages of documents detailing a Department of Homeland Security’s surveillance program. The documents include contracts and statements of work with General Dynamics for 24/7 media and social network monitoring and periodic reports to DHS. The documents reveal that the agency is tracking media stories that “reflect adversely” on DHS or the U.S. government. One tracking report — “Residents Voice Opposition Over Possible Plan to Bring Guantanamo Detainees to Local Prison-Standish MI” — summarizes dissent on blogs and social networking cites, quoting commenters. EPIC sent a request for these documents in April 2004 and filed suit against the agency in December.

Topeka, Kan. — Several homemade bombs were found Wednesday in a pickup near the Kansas Capitol that had a type of specialty license plate issued only to U.S. military paratroopers, and police said they arrested the owner in an underground tunnel connecting the Capitol to an office building.

The suspicious vehicle was found Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the Kansas Judicial Center, south of the Statehouse.

Capitol police spokesman Patrick Saleh said officers had received a call from a state employee that the pickup was parked in a restricted lot outside the Kansas Judicial Center, south of the Capitol, without a state worker tag. An officer saw suspicious objects inside, including an empty gun holster, so authorities called in the Topeka Police Department’s bomb squad.

Saleh said the explosives were made with household materials and designed to spray shrapnel when they were detonated. He didn’t have further details, but called them “actual explosives.”

On May 26, 2011 There was a motion to increase the combat pay for America’s troops serving in combat zones an extra $100 per month, this effort was blocked by Allen West who voted along side Nancy (Nazi) Pelosi, Harry Reid and Debbie Wasserman Shultz along with many others too numerous to mention, but can be seen in the link we have in this blog. This effort was defeated and it would have increased combat pay for designated members of the U.S. armed forces.

The motion to provide the pay raise was defeated by Republicans during debate on H.R. 1540, The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012. This legislation was approved by the full House.

(a) HOSTILE FIRE AND IMMINENT DANGER PAY.—Section 310 of title 37, United States Code, is amended—

(b) SPECIAL PAY AMOUNT.—(1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), the amount of special pay authorized by subsection (a) for qualifying service during a day or portion of a day shall be the amount equal to 1/30th of the maximum monthly amount of special pay payable to a member as specified in paragraph (3).

(2) In the case of a member who is exposed to hostile fire or a hostile mine explosion event in or for a day or portion of a day, the Secretary concerned may, at the election of the Secretary, pay the member special pay under subsection (a) for such service in an amount not to exceed the maximum monthly amount of special pay payable to a member as specified in paragraph (3)

Are you kidding?

Your big plan to cut spending is to decide that living with the imminent danger of being injured or killed isn’t hazardous to our deployed soldiers’ health?

Do you realize that the combat bonus for deployed Soldiers was only $225 a month before this cut?

That isn’t much. But given how small their paychecks are anyway, it means a lot to the families who, by the way, do incur extra expenses when their Soldiers are deployed.
