Late last week GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney released the names of his foreign policy and national security advisers just in time for his Friday address on America’s foreign policy. He effused over his selection:

I am deeply honored to have the counsel of this extraordinary group of diplomats, experts and statesmen. Their remarkable experience, wisdom and depth of knowledge will be critical to ensuring that the 21st Century is another American Century.

His campaign continues to be plagued with an increasing chorus of doubters about his conservative posture. His claim to have balanced the budget of Massachusetts without raising taxes was found to be false. In a widely-seen interview with Tim Russert on NBC’s Meet the Press in 2008, Russert nailed Romney:

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — A sheriff seeking the GOP nomination for an Arizona Congressional seat was forced Saturday to confirm he is gay amid allegations of misconduct made by a man with whom he previously had a relationship.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu on Saturday denied claims he tried to threaten the man, a Mexican immigrant and a former campaign volunteer, with deportation if their past relationship was made public. The mans allegations were first published Friday in The New Times, a Phoenix alternative weekly magazine.

Paul Babeu’s Mexican Gay Ex-Lover Says Sheriff’s Attorney Threatened Him With Deportation

According to the Phoenix New Times who broke the story;

Jose says he met Babeu in October 2006 on gay.com, a dating website. What started with an online invitation from Babeu for the two to get together, he says, turned into not only a personal relationship but a professional one.

Jose says he created and maintained Babeus campaign websites, his Facebook page, and his Twitter account. Babeu didn’t pay him for his online services, he claims.

Babeu works hard on body search

Jose says Babeu told him that he loved him and was with him exclusively. But Jose suspected Babeu was lying. The relationship soured, and Jose believes that Babeu sent DeRose after him. He says DeRose demanded the passwords to Babeus websites and social-media accounts. Jose says he complied but that Babeu and his attorney also wanted Jose to sign a document that would bind him legally to keep silent about the relationship.

Text Messages Confirm Relationship

Jose shared some of the text messages between him and Babeu. The text messages  many still saved on Joses cell phone ” appear to be sent from Babeus business cell phone. Babeu identifies himself on his voice mail and says he is the sheriff of Pinal County.
