Malia Ann Obama, daughter of U.S. President Barack Obama, was spotted having some fun with her friends at a staying at a downtown hotel in Oaxaca, Mexico over the weekend. The hotel is Hotel Camino Real, located in Oaxaca’s Historic Central District.

She and her friends are likely celebrating their Spring Break, and they had books, cameras and each other.

The State Department has warned American citizens against traveling there. In fact, the language contained in the State Department’s travel warning is quite ominous.

Crime and violence are serious problems throughout the country and can occur anywhere, the warning reads. U.S. citizens have fallen victim to TCO activity, including homicide, gun battles, kidnapping, carjacking and highway robbery. [Emphasis added] It continues later:

The rising number of kidnappings and disappearances throughout Mexico is of particular concern. Both local and expatriate communities have been victimized.  In addition, local police have been implicated in some of these incidents.  We strongly advise you to lower your profile and avoid displaying any evidence of wealth that might draw attention.

Additionally, the warning (dated February 8) notes that U.S. government personnel and their families are prohibited from personal travel to all areas described as ‘defer non-essential travel and when travel for official purposes is essential it is conducted with extensive security precautions  However, it adds that USG personnel and their families are allowed to travel for personal reasons to the areas where no advisory is in effect or where the advisory is to exercise caution.

According to the release, no specific warning has been issued for Oaxaca, where Malia is said to be. However, there have been concerns about that area in the past.

Have you heard that Malia Obama, the president’s daughter, is reportedly spending her spring break in Oaxaca, Mexico? Allegedly, she’s jetting off with some of her classmates and 25 Secret Service agents to a country that the State Department has said all Americans should avoid. But something is different about the latest  Obama vacation controversy: references to it are disappearing from the Internet ­ and fast.

The elder daughter, Malia, of US President Barack Obama is spending her spring-break in the historic Mexican city of Oaxaca in the company of 12 friends, a state police official said. (I wonder if Ms. Fluke got to go with her free birth control?)

The young tourists, including 13-year-old Malia Ann Obama, are staying at a downtown hotel in this city famous for its colonial architecture and well-preserved native American traditions, the official said.

“We are here to block access to the hotel by other people and escort the vehicles that are carrying the visitors to tourism sites,” the police official told AFP under the condition of anonymity.

Malia Obama and her friend are guarded by 25 US Secret Service agents as well as Mexican police, the official noted.

The group, which arrived in Oaxaca Saturday, has already visited the architectural zone of Mitla and the tree of El Tule believed to have one thousand years.

How the hell does SGTreport have election “results” for a Republican primary in Illinois which has yet to take place?

We have long argued that  the fix is in, but this um leaves us speechless. We don’t believe these numbers will represent the actual results of Tuesdays Primary, the question is, why are ANY results, and a clear winner shown here? And why is Ron Paul shown with only 3% of the vote?

Posted on  MONDAY NIGHT, March 19th  on the web site of Chicago ABC News Affiliate WLS-TV are the following election results, clearly labeled as Illinois Races, Federal Offices. If we have this wrong, please let us know why this information exists in ANY form. Or, if we are indeed living in a banana republic, copy that. You now have our blessing to move out of the country.

“Citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking an arresting officer’s life if necessary.” Plummer v. State, 136 Ind. 306. This premise was upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States in the case: John Bad Elk v. U.S., 177 U.S. 529.

The Court stated: “Where the officer is killed in the course of the disorder which naturally accompanies an attempted arrest that is resisted, the law looks with very different eyes upon the transaction, when the officer had the right to make the arrest, from what it does if the officer had no right. What may be murder in the first case might be nothing more than manslaughter in the other, or the facts might show that no offense had been committed.”

“An arrest made with a defective warrant, or one issued without affidavit, or one that fails to allege a crime is within jurisdiction, and one who is being arrested, may resist arrest and break away. lf the arresting officer is killed by one who is so resisting, the killing will be no more than an involuntary manslaughter.” Housh v. People, 75 111. 491; reaffirmed and quoted in State v. Leach, 7 Conn. 452; State v. Gleason, 32 Kan. 245; Ballard v. State, 43 Ohio 349; State v Rousseau, 241 P. 2d 447; State v. “When a person, being without fault, is in a place where he has a right to be, is violently assaulted, he may, without retreating, repel by force, and if, in the reasonable exercise of his right of self defense, his assailant is killed, he is justified.” Runyan v. State, 57 Ind. 80; Miller v. State, 74 Ind. 1.

“These principles apply as well to an officer attempting to make an arrest, who abuses his authority and transcends the bounds thereof by the use of unnecessary force and violence, as they do to a private individual who unlawfully uses such force and violence.” Jones v. State, 26 Tex. App. I; Beaverts v. State, 4 Tex. App. 1 75; Skidmore v. State, 43 Tex. 93, 903.

“An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery.” (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).

“Each person has the right to resist an unlawful arrest. In such a case, the person attempting the arrest stands in the position of a wrongdoer and may be resisted by the use of force, as in self- defense.” (State v. Mobley, 240 N.C. 476, 83 S.E. 2d 100).

Chicago police arrested WGN reporter Dan Ponce and WMAQ photographer Donte Williams Saturday, saying that they were “creating a scene” outside of Mount Sinai hospital.

The two were covering the fatal shooting of a six-year old girl and, though they were already across the street, the officer demanded they go another street over.

“Fuck news affairs, I don’t care about news affairs.  Forget news affairs,” he said.

When the journalists spoke to their rights, the officer replied, “Your first amendment rights can beterminated, if you’re creating a scene, or whatever. Your first amendment rights have limitations.”

After the journalists responded, “how have we created a scene? This is what we do for a living,” the officer replied, “Your presence is creating a scene.”

Ponce and Williams maintain that they never went into the hospital.  Ponce elaborated on Sunday, saying, “What upset me about last night was this was not an active crime scene…This is in front of a hospital. The reporters and photographers were standing on the median sidewalk when the officer started yelling at us, telling us to get further away. We decided to take a stand.”

A police report says otherwise.  “We removed two individuals from the hospital at the request of hospital security guards, who asserted that the individuals had tried to go past them into secure and private areas of the hospital. The security guards declined to press charges and the individuals were released.”

Though it is very possible that the journalists attempted to enter the hospital— their video appears to be edited— does that warrant the police officer’s graphic response, and his threat to “terminate” the first amendment rights of the journalists?

Police in California arrested a former spokesman for the San Diego Tea Party on suspicion of kidnapping and raping a 56-year-old woman.

Michael Kobulnicky, 50, was arrested near his home Thursday afternoon, San Diego police told local NBC affiliate KNSD-TV, and was booked on felony charges including kidnapping, sexual assault and sex with a foreign object.

He remains in jail and will appear in court this week, the Los Angeles Times reported.

According to San Diego Fox affiliate KSWB-TV, Kobulnicky allegedly spotted the woman while he was driving and pulled over and asked if she wanted a ride home. She accepted the offer, but once they reached her home he allegedly kept going and drove to a nearby recreational area known as Fiesta Island. He then allegedly pulled her out of the vehicle and sexually assaulted her before driving off and leaving her behind.

The woman reported the alleged assault to the police, who released surveillance video to local news outlets. Using tips from the public, detectives identified Kobulnicky as the alleged assailant, San Diego Police Lt. Anastasia Smith told the station.
