Is it illegal to video tape police?
The Stockton Unified School District Police Dept., in California say, YES!
While standing up for the rights of his fellow Citizens, Harry Walters Jr. was arrested by Officers Pinto and Lopez of Stockton School District Police Department. What was his crime? Absolutely nothing! Mr. Walters was arrested and charged with Penal Code 148(a), Resisting and/or Delaying a police officer, simply because utilizing his right as an American Citizen, by video taping what he believed to be illegal searches being conducted by police. As if the arrest itself wasn’t bed enough, the officers then proceeded to file fraudulent police reports, saying that Mr. Walters was acting in a threatening manner. After reviewing the video, our staff came to the conclusion that this was certainly not the case; but we’ll let you be the judge…

When we called back she transferred us to her Supervisor Officer Kegarice who seemed surprised she didn’t at this time he gave us her name and we attempted to ask some questions.
