For all the fears of sophisticated digital intrusions preoccupying many computer security professionals, President Obama’s leading candidates for “cyber czar” also are focusing on an all-too-human vulnerability: The nation’s inability to respond to a full-fledged Internet-borne crisis for lack of a central cyber commander.

Former White House cybersecurity official Paul B. Kurtz, in his first public remarks since becoming an advisor to President Obama’s transition team following the election, describes his biggest worry: A “cyber Katrina” in which fragmented bureaucracies and companies fail to share critical information and coordinate responses to cyber intruders attempting to disrupt power grids, financial markets, or any number of now-plausible scenarios involving a Web shutdown. One recent fear is the cascading effects of even a partial Internet blackout that could add to economic anxieties. There’s such electronic insecurity afoot, some are even beginning to suggest building an entirely new global computer infrastructure.

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall NOT be violated…”

Ever since SCOTUS first opened Pandora’s box in the late 1970’s by carving out a 4th Amendment loophole for immigration checkpoints, the use of suspicionless checkpoints across the country has continued to proliferate at an alarming rate. Today, it’s not uncommon to find enforcement agencies across the country utilizing roadblocks of one form or another to control local communities and create new revenue streams for politicians and bureaucrats.

While roadblocks are conducted under a number of different guises, they all share a common set of traits. Specifically, they:

*
Operate with no individualized reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing
*
Seek to control and intimidate local communities as opposed to serve and protect them
*
Raise revenue for expanding government programs through fines, citations & arrest

At roughly 2:15 am on Nov 2, Vincent Sims and I were crossing the intersection of Highland Ave on Water St when two police officers yelled from half a block away for us to stop and talk to them. Up until this point, Vincent and I had done nothing wrong and had no reason to be included in any sort of police investigation.

I told the officers from a distance that we had done nothing wrong and therefore were not interested in having a discussion. As mentioned, it was 2:15 am and we were in the process of hailing a cab. The moment I turned away from the officers, they both proceeded to sprint in my direction and forcibly restrain and handcuff me. Without any sort of explanation, I was thrown in the back of a squad car and driven to a nearby station. Vincent was left on the sidewalk having no idea why I had been abducted.

KBR manager suspended after a second round of sexual harassment claims against him

February 12, 2009 By: Freedom Fighter Category: government abuse, government corruption, iraq war No Comments →

A private contractor at the British Embassy in Iraq has been removed from his post after a second round of sexual harassment claims against him, sources say.

The unidentified British manager for the U.S. company Kellogg Brown and Root was allowed to return to his job at the embassy in 2007 after the company performed an internal investigation on allegations he had sexually harassed and Iraqi cleaner and two cooks, The Times of London reported Wednesday.

But a fresh round allegations, this time accusing the KBR manager of having sexual relations with a female Iraqi employee on embassy property, has resulted in the manager being suspended and flown out of the country, unnamed sources told the newspaper.

The new accusations are an embarrassment to British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, The Times said, because the three Iraqis who filed the first allegations were never questioned and lost their jobs while Miliband allowed KBR to conduct its own investigation of the incident despite conflict-of-interest concerns.

A spokeswoman for KBR would not comment on the new claims, The Times said.

Codex Alimentarius - How the global elite will control your food supply

February 07, 2009 By: Freedom Fighter Category: general news, government abuse No Comments →

The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), based in Rome, Italy is an international organization jointly created in 1962 by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) of the United Nations “allegedly” to protect the health of consumers with guidelines for food standards.

Codex Alimentarius may present the greatest disaster for our food supply and thus our health this country has ever seen, and if not stopped is likely to be implemented in 2011.

The Codex and its regulations affecting our food sovereignty go back to 1962. Fortunately in 1994 Congress passed the Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act (DSHEA) which for the moment preserved the definition of vitamins, minerals and herbs as foods. Read More

Tell Senators to Keep E-Verify out of Stimulus Bill! - Government control of hiring called E-Verify

February 03, 2009 By: Freedom Fighter Category: government abuse, liberty No Comments →

Everyone knows the “stimulus” package is a fraud, loaded with every Socialist’s shopping list. The package will fund everything from Amtrak, to climate change research, to a new version of Hitler Youth (Americorp). But hidden down in its depths is something even worse - Government control of hiring called E-Verify.

The Congress couldn’t pass this dangerous legislation on its own, so as usual supporters tack their trash on to “must pass” legislation.

Worse, those supporters are being helped by powerful forces who are selling this monstrosity as a must-have tool to stop illegal immigration. They are lying! E-Verify will do NOTHING to stop illegal immigration.

We must stop E-verify!!

Here are the facts:

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (HR1, S336), or so-called economic stimulus bills, contain an earmark to renew the fatally flawed E-Verify program in the United States for another five years beyond it’s scheduled expiration date in March of this year. This very dangerous program must be stricken from any Senate version of the stimulus bill.

E-Verify has nothing to do will illegal immigration and everything to do with global surveillance and total government control of your lives. The Senate loves immigration reforms, but E-Verify must be stopped, and we cannot do it without your help!

Congress Seeks To Authorize & Legalize FEMA Camp Facilities

By: Lee Rogers

A new bill has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives called the National Emergency Centers Act or HR 645. This bill if passed into law will direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish national emergency centers otherwise known as FEMA camp facilities on military installations. This is an incredibly disturbing piece of legislation considering that the powers that be have already set in motion an agenda to setup a nationwide marital law apparatus through U.S. Northern Command and the Department of Homeland Security. Apparently, the fusion centers, militarized police, surveillance cameras and a domestic military command is not enough. Even though we already know that detention facilities are already in place, they now want to legalize the construction of FEMA camps on military installations using the ever popular excuse that the facilities are for the purposes of a national emergency. With the phony debt based economy getting worse and worse by the day, the possibility of civil unrest is becoming a greater threat to the establishment. One need only look at Iceland, Greece and other nations for what might happen in the United States next. With this in mind, it appears as if these so called national emergency centers will be used in a national emergency but only if the national emergency requires large groups of people to be rounded up and detained. If that isn’t the case, than why have these national emergency facilities built in military installations? (more…)

New York City to ban general public from owning geiger counters & other bio- chem- or general WMD detectors

January 15, 2009 By: Freedom Fighter Category: government abuse No Comments →

The NYPD whom you quite probably have seen on television have lobbied successfully to propose a municipal law “to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to permits for biological, chemical and radiological detectors.” The Council Members proposing it are Vallone Jr., Addabbo Jr., Comrie, Fidler, Gentile, Nelson, Recchia Jr., Stewart and White Jr. (by request of the Mayor). You might have seen him on telly too, in fact you might have seen his telly station, his name is Bloomberg.

Their argument is that allowing the general public to use geiger counters & other bio- chem- or general WMD detectors may, will, does or perhaps did cause PANIC. They don’t like panic. They like orderly queues & heroic administrations who chose to HQ their emergency services on a 23rd floor of a building leased by a party donor slap bang next to the World Trade Centre despite that bit of Manhatten being considered a “target” & the idiocy of clambering up 23 floors of stairs in a power outage.

Geiger Counters are not the only useful thing covered by the proposed legislation. Air quality equipment which would allow concerned neurotic hypochondriac woody allen on asthma inhaler types to identify toxic micro-particles are also to be “closely supervised”. Of course that type of equipment in private hands led people to all sorts of “asbestos fallout” on indymedia NYC by september 13 & then before you knew it Fire Fighters were suing. They don’t like people suing.

Last Mayor Guliani who quit the Republican Presidential nomination race this week as a heroic loser didn’t like fire fighters pointing out his heroics were utter crap built on the lives of emergency services who deserved proper management & preparation.

“……..Giuliani had sited New York City’s Emergency Operations Center right in the World Trade Center complex, despite the fact that it had been bombed before, in February 1993. The EOC, meant to be the city’s main command-and-control center in the case of a terrorist attack or other major disaster, opened in 1999 in 7 World Trade Center, directly across the street from the Twin Towers. It was on the 23rd floor, and effectively required working elevators to access. The huge, state-of-the-art, $13m center was evacuated at 9:30am on the morning of September 11, and reduced to rubble when 7 WTC collapsed late that afternoon. It took several hours for the mayor and his emergency management staff to set up a makeshift command center further away from Ground Zero.
At the time of the EOC’s construction, the mayor had been challenged by members of the City Council because of its high cost - $1.4m a year, payable to Larry Silverstein, the billionaire developer who was a major Giuliani campaign contributor. Many others had questioned its location. A site across the river in downtown Brooklyn was suggested by the mayor’s own Emergency Management chief, Jerry Hauer, who said it was “not as visible a target as buildings in Lower Manhattan.” (In recent TV talkshow wars on the subject, Giuliani has blamed Hauer for the choice of 7 WTC - but Hauer says Giuliani insisted on a location he could walk to from City Hall……….”

you might remember him being all heroic walking out of the big cloud of toxic dust.

With economy in shambles, Congress gets a raise

December 22, 2008 By: Freedom Fighter Category: government abuse, government corruption No Comments →

A crumbling economy, more than 2 million constituents who have lost their jobs this year, and congressional demands of CEOs to work for free did not convince lawmakers to freeze their own pay.

Instead, they will get a $4,700 pay increase, amounting to an additional $2.5 million that taxpayers will spend on congressional salaries, and watchdog groups are not happy about it.

“As lawmakers make a big show of forcing auto executives to accept just $1 a year in salary, they are quietly raiding the vault for their own personal gain,” said Daniel O’Connell, chairman of The Senior Citizens League (TSCL), a non-partisan group. Read More

Well, only the electrical parts.

The U.S. military already has EMP capabilities, but it looks like, based on this Air Force solicitation published in the past couple of days, that they’re about to get more tactical:

Indictments against Cheney, Gonzales dismissed

December 01, 2008 By: Freedom Fighter Category: government abuse, government corruption No Comments →

By CHRISTOPHER SHERMAN Associated Press Writer © 2008 The Associated Press

RAYMONDVILLE, Texas — A judge has dismissed the indictments brought by a South Texas prosecutor against Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Administrative Judge Manuel Banales ruled Monday that eight indictments, including those involving Cheney and Gonzales, were improperly returned by a Willacy County grand jury last month. The indictments against Cheney and Gonzales centered on the alleged abuse of inmates at private prisons in the county.

Banales ruled that five of the indictments against two district judges, two special prosecutors and the district clerk connected to an investigation of Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra were unlawful because Guerra was the alleged victim and the person presenting the cases.

Banales earlier survived a recusal motion brought by Guerra. Banales then dismissed an indictment against state Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. that accused the Brownsville Democrat of corruption.

A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President [sic] Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in Willacy County’s federal detention centers. The indictment criticizes Cheney’s investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and “at least misdemeanor assaults” on detainees by working through the prison companies. Another indictment charges state Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. with profiting from his public office by accepting honoraria from prison management companies.

Dick Cheney indicted over prison abuse

A TEXAS grand jury has indicted US Vice President Dick Cheney for conspiring to block an investigation into abuse at privately run prisons.

The three-page indictment alleges that Mr Cheney profited from the abuse because he invested $US85 million ($131 million) in the Vanguard Group - an investment management company that reportedly has interests in the prison companies in charge of the detention centers.

It said this was a “direct conflict of interest” because Mr Cheney had influence over the federal contracts awarded to the prison companies.

AIG, Congress and the Taxpayers

November 18, 2008 By: Freedom Fighter Category: government abuse, government corruption No Comments →

Debbie Morgan, www.TakeBackWashington.com

November 14, 2008
http://www.takebackwashington.com/articles/AIGCongressandtheTaxpayers.html

What is up with AIG? The taxpayers, by way of the government and without being asked, have given AIG more than $122 Billion in funds (the amount is actually said to be more like $152 Billion) to keep the failing insurance giant afloat, and yet AIG cannot seem to tighten its belt. American Insurance Group, a company originally founded in China, has been caught spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in perks for executive, top producers and independent advisor retreats since its taxpayer bailout.

Taxpayers may be aware of the lavish resort visits, but are they being given a choice on whether or not they want to continue funding the irresponsible AIG?

The tab for the first extravagant get-a-way was $440,000. Of that, the expenditures were reported to be $200,000 for rooms, $150,000 for meals $23,000 for spa treatments and $7,000 in Greens fees. So, lets get this straight, they spent all that money to stay in a resort, all that money for food, all that money for spa treatments, and yet there is still $60,000 unaccounted for. Maybe they spent it in tips! Since we are being forced to “help” AIG, I think it only right that we know what happened to the remaining $60,000! And…I am quite sure that with the stress taxpayers are under with regards to our collapsing economy, our losing our homes, our lack of funds to purchase food, we might like a nice get away ourselves, but we cannot afford one.

AIG tried to keep the next big outing secret, even staff members of the resort at which the new outing took place were told not to mention AIG by name. There were no AIG logos or signs to be seen. However, an ABC affiliate caught them on tape. This time, they spent $343,000.

AIG Company spokesperson Nick Ashoon maintains that these “meetings” are essential to their business and success. It is customary, according to Ashoon, to treat top producers and independent producers to retreats. Even AIG CEO Edward Liddy stated that gatherings such as these were “standard practice” in their industry. However, Maryland Representative Elijah Cummings is asking questions, and demanding answers. Cummings suggested, “if AIG truly wants to become as it claims ‘an ethical steward of the public’s investment,’ AIG must change its business practices…and it must…show it is truly willing to be transparent to the public that has saved it.” Cummings states that the first step in that endeavor is to provide him with answers to his requests and for AIG to accept the resignation of newly appointed CEO Liddy.

Liddy, a former Goldman Sachs Director, took over AIG on September 18, 2008 at the appointment of another Goldman Sachs employee, former CEO and now Secretary of Treasury Henry Paulson. Add to this that Neel Kashkari, in charge of dispersing the $700 Billion aid, was also a former Goldman Sachs employee and one must wonder if there is some serious hanky panky going on!

New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has taken a hard-line stance in his approach to AIG. In a letter to Liddy, Cuomo makes it his position clear; there should be no funds paid to AIG executives until the taxpayers are repaid, in full, with interest. He also states that “rebuilding trust in our capital markets requires executive compensation packages that are rational, fair and based on bona fide performance measures…” He goes on to state that these packages should “no longer create improper incentives for executives to over leverage their companies and manipulate the books for their own short-term financial benefit.”

In a letter from Representative Henry Waxman to Liddy, Waxman points out that there were a couple of other “such events.” In light of the fact that AIG is clearly mishandling funds at this point, I must ask again, have the taxpayers been given a chance to say “no” to the bailouts? Have they even been given the opportunity to say to which companies the bailout money should go?

As part of the stipulations for considering approval of the bailout, the White House was supposed to appoint a special inspector general and Congress was supposed to choose an independent oversight panel, all of which has yet to be done, now more than six weeks after the bail out was passed. The purpose of these positions was to avert government waste and corruption. Congress is upset that the White House has not yet appointed the special inspector general, but Congress has failed to appoint the independent committee. Perhaps Senator Charles Schumer said it best when he stated that, “Considering how taxpayers’ money around Washington isn’t respected, a day shouldn’t go by without having an inspector general checking on it…”

To top all of this off, now it appears that the $700 Billion will not be used for the purposes for which it was passed. That’s right. Paulson has decided that a change in direction should be taken. According to a November 12, 2008 New York Times article, Paulson and the Department of Treasury has “abandoned the original strategy behind its $700 billion effort to rescue the financial system” in favor of a lending program run by the Federal Reserve. Now, if that isn’t a scary thought! In addition, Paulson, after demanding that the entire $700 Billion be available at once, has said he may leave half the money for President Elect Obama’s Administration to dole out as they see fit. Paulson, the former CEO, is exhibiting sure signs of a politician as he sold Congress on the bailout using one logic and has now scrapped part of it and is moving in a different direction.

The taxpayers should be up in arms about the disregard with which government, as well as the businesses government has chosen for the taxpayers to “bail out,” has conducted itself. Sure, there are key people in government trying to get things done “properly,” but wouldn’t “properly” have been to let the mis-managed businesses fail and to let other similar businesses pick up the slack? After all, if small businesses, you know the mom and pop businesses that fulfilled the American Dream, fail the government does not run to their aid. If we, as individual citizens fail, we cannot petition government to bail us out.

How is it right that big, mis-managed business gets preferential treatment and We-the-People get the shaft? Aren’t We-the People the government? Then again, maybe that is a delusion…

Dallas School District Caught Using Random SSNs For Foreign Workers Taking Jobs From American School Teachers

November 15, 2008 By: Freedom Fighter Category: government abuse, government corruption No Comments →

Source: The Consumerist

The Dallas Independent School District has been making up fake Social Security Numbers for foreign hires for years, even after being told in 2004 by the state’s education board to stop because it’s illegal. The numbers were meant to “expedite” the hiring process and get the employees on payroll, but they found their way onto Department of Homeland Security and IRS forms (which are kept in-district but shared with feds upon request), were used for criminal background checks, and in at least 26 cases were numbers in use by real people.

The Dallas Morning News doesn’t mention whether or not the DISD will be contacting the people who have had their SSNs appropriated, but they did offer this detail:

The DISD-issued Social Security numbers began with “200″ – a prefix assigned to people in Pennsylvania, and Mr. Phillips’ office noted that many ended with sequential numbers.

In general, though, with the exception of the occasional criminal background check, the fake SSNs were supposedly kept away from any legitimate use, and even if your SSN fits the description above the odds are low anything bad has happened. We’re just amazed at the school district’s monumentally bad judgment.

New Obama Chief of Staff, Others on Board, Missed “Red Flags” of Alleged Fraud Scheme

President-elect Barack Obama’s newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot “red flags,” according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.

According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.

Emanuel was not named in the SEC complaint (click here to read) but the entire board was later accused by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) (click here to read) of having “failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention.”

The Bailout and the theft of America

What? $770 billion won’t be used to ease credit crisis and make loans. Paulson secretly told banks to hoard it for mergers & consolidations… Doesn’t this mean we need to be assuming that a depression is secured to come now? NYT reporter sneaks in on JP Morgan call, hears executive admit that bailout money will be used to pick off other banks, not increase lending as promised.

New York Times reporter sneaks in on JP Morgan call, hears executive admit that bailout money will be used to pick off other banks, not increase lending as promised

Sound money will buy pennies on the dollar from the others, like in the 30’s. Paulson actually is using the bailout money to secure purchasing power for the depression and not save us from the recession which means he is now INSURING that a depression will come.

HOLD ON TO YOUR ASS if you are one of the ones going down, cause you just been “Hanked!”

But seriously, this is really jacked up people. Go get some food and emergency preparedness because I don’t put anything past these a-holes in Washington or Wall Street anymore. They don’t give a crap about you and have made that pretty clear. 9/11 was just the big slap in the face that these pricks will kill us just to make a point, which means a depression is like second nature to these lunatics.

WASHINGTON - U.S. intelligence analysts eavesdropped on personal calls between Americans overseas and their families back home and monitored the communications of workers with the Red Cross and other humanitarian organizations, according to two military linguists involved in U.S. surveillance programs.

The accounts are the most detailed to date to challenge the assertions of President Bush, CIA Director Michael V. Hayden and other administration officials that the government’s controversial overseas wiretapping activities have been carefully monitored to prevent abuse and invasion of U.S. citizens’ privacy.

Describing the allegations as “extremely disturbing,” Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, said the panel had launched an inquiry and requested records from the Bush administration.

The linguists said that recordings of intimate conversations between citizens and their loved ones were sometimes passed around, out of prurient interest, among analysts at an electronic surveillance facility at Ft. Gordon, Ga.

Banker Bailout Bill Contains IRS Police State Provision

October 05, 2008 By: Freedom Fighter Category: government abuse, government corruption No Comments →

In the months and years ahead, you will be required to fork over significantly higher taxes to pay not only for the putative bailout but also a passel of other globalist schemes, all designed to strip you of your wealth and turn you into another peon working on the globalist slave plantation now under construction.

Not only is the recently passed Banker Takeover bill larded up with pork, it also contains dictatorial provisions. In addition to making former Goldman Sachs chairman and current Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson an economic czar — a provision completely at odds with the Constitution — the bill grants police state powers to the IRS. Declan McCullagh writes for CNet:

The bailout bill also gives the Internal Revenue Service new authority to conduct undercover operations. It would immunize the IRS from a passel of federal laws, including permitting IRS agents to run businesses for an extended sting operation, to open their own personal bank accounts with U.S. tax dollars, and so on.
