Disgusting. Why doesn’t Frankfort go after tougher jail sentences for sexual crimes against children and quit worrying about Sudafed?

HARRODSBURG — A former Harrodsburg police officer pleaded guilty Friday to more than 140 counts of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse.

Jason Elder, 31, pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree rape, 49 counts of third-degree sodomy and 97 counts of first-degree sexual abuse. All of the charges involved one girl, who was 14 at the time.

“Are you pleading guilty because you are truly guilty and for no other reason?” Special Judge Rob Johnson (pictured below) asked.

“Yes, sir,” Elder said.

Under a plea agreement, Elder will serve three years in prison. He must enroll and complete a sex-offender treatment program, and he must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. When he is released, he will have to register as a sex offender.

Elder was an officer who conducted Drug Abuse Resistance Education classes in the Mercer County schools. The Harrodsburg City Commission suspended Elder without pay after the indictment was returned last year, and he turned in his badge and gun.

Johnson scheduled sentencing for April 5.

Yesterday, Chuck Norris endorsed Newt Gingrich for president in what has to be considered at best a disappointing compromise of principle. Worse, Norris’ article carried a caveat designed to excuse the candidate’s serial-adulterous past, hint that political compromise can trump personal faithfulness, and use biblical language to lead evangelicals to accept these same compromised values:

We all have skeletons in our closet. If buried bones became unforgivable bones of contention, the world would never know or will never know another Benjamin Franklin, King David and others like them. We must remember that we’re electing a president, not a pastor or pope. And with the mainstream media and a billion-dollar Obama campaign coffer on the president’s side, we need a veteran of political war who has already fought Goliath, because he will be facing Goliath’s bigger brother.

I expect better from Chuck Norris, and indeed, Chuck Norris has been better in the past. In fact, he has been so much better that this sell-out on Gingrich is a virtual Chuck Norris-patented roundhouse kick to his own head compared to how he treated a previous presidential hopeful from the other party last cycle.

In 2008, Norris ran an article “An Affair to Remember,” in which he lamented the lack of public concern over John Edwards’ exposed and admitted adulterous affair: “Do we care? Do we think it matters? Do we believe that there should be any code of conduct or moral standard for those in public office, even if it is the highest one in the land?”

While he gave a sentence or two on repentance and restoration, Norris spent the entire rest of that article trumpeting the need for high moral character and marital fidelity in public officials:

I believe leadership should be above reproach. I believe those who govern should lead also in civility and decency and that their character should be congruent with their call to office. Like parents to children, a nation’s politicians’ integrity and character should supersede its citizens. But as long as we the people tolerate leadership immorality and elect corrupt politicians, we cannot expect the heart and character of our nation to improve.

It fascinates me that American naturalization law incorporates “good moral character” as a prerequisite for citizenship but no such legal standard is expected of those who govern our citizens. In a post-Clinton era, government trysts seem to be the rule more than the exception. Immorality is not only tolerated but also expected among public servants now. Have we at last severed or totally compartmentalized their personal and political lives so that never the twine should meet?

Norris even went so far as to say those who commit such acts in office should be removed:

Enduring public humiliation is not the only price a political leader should pay for improprieties; I think they should be disciplined and suspended, if not disposed from public service. The consequence of corruption also should be increased restrictions, if not a banning from certain areas of future public service.

The conclusion is clear: “If one cannot properly handle his private affairs, can we truly expect him to handle political ones?”

And these types of rules and solutions at this level of public representation should not be altered by repentance and forgiveness: “As Christians, we should be abundant in forgiveness; but as Americans too, we should be diligent in protecting political trusts from those who do or might abuse them.”

“An affair to remember” eh? Do you remember it now Chuck?

No. Norris is now 180 degrees from his former righteous self. Now he downplays all that moral-character-integrity-decency stuff and appeals to raw pragmatism.

“Have we at last severed or totally compartmentalized their personal and political lives so that never the twine should meet?” he asked in 2008. Well, let him tell us:

Political elections do not depend on who votes but who counts the votes. The USA has farmed out its vote counting responsibilities to international foreign corporations who have the ability to manipulate the vote totals and define for us who our elected representatives are.

Now, the owners of the dog are outraged, and their seems little they can do about this very sad incident.

One of the owners told WAGA-TV:  ”When I opened the door I started screaming, I said this dog has been shot. I saw nothing but blood… he killed that dog. She added ”It frustrated me because he was so quick to kill the dog.”

The 2-year-old German Shepherd, named “Easy,” was still chained up when the officer shot it. He later stated that he “felt threatened.”

Even more agitating for the owners, though, was that the police officer was investigating the wrong home. He was supposed to be on the scene of a domestic disturbance call across the street.

“Why did you shoot my dog?… I did not call you,” Easy’s owner said she yelled at the police officer.

The officer was not placed on administrative leave and is back on the streets already, though internal affairs was apparently investigating.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich canceled a planned appearance at the Southern Republican Leaders Conference Friday after only a handful of supporters and conference attendees showed up to hear him speak.

“The campaign has discussed with the organizers the attendance of the event. Based on that, we won’t be attending,” said Gingrich spokesman Nathan Naidu.

A speech by former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum to the same group Thursday was similarly poorly attended.

But the image of the candidate addressing a largely empty auditorium on the campus of the College of Charleston apparently did not mesh with the campaign’s narrative that Gingrich is being broadly embraced by conservatives.

I am going to describe a candidate for you right now, and I want you to think about whether or not you would support him.

This candidate was for the individual mandate that served as the model for “ObamaCare.” He was originally for the TARP bank bailouts before he was against them.  He joined with Nancy Pelosi to promote the anti-business “global warming” agenda.

He slammed Paul Ryan’s budget plan as “extreme,” calling it “right wing social engineering.”

You might think I am talking about Mitt Romney.  Heck, you might think I’m talking about a liberal Democrat.  But I’m not.

That candidate I’m talking about is Newt Gingrich.  He is what I like to call a “counterfeit conservative.”

That seems to be the maxim of the shady online hacktivisit collective Anonymous at least, as several Twitter accounts that identified themselves as members of the loose-knit hacker group on Thursday boasted of taking down the websites of the U.S. Justice Department, the Recording Industry Association of America and Universal Music in retaliation for the U.S. government shutting down MegaUpload.com and charging its founders with extensive copyright violations.

Indeed, at the time of this post’s publication, all of the websites were offline.

“Tango down! http://universalmusic.com & http://www.justice.gov// #Megaupload,” the Twitter account @AnonOps tweeted on late Thursday evening.

“Justice.gov & universalmusic.com TANGO DOWN! You should have EXPECT US! #Megaupload,” the account tweeted shortly thereafter.

“Anonymous/Megaupload backlash update: http://RIAA.ORG is now Tango Down | #OpPayback #OpMegaupload #SOPA #PIPA,” tweeted another account, @YourAnonNews.

The bust of MegaUpload.com (the “Megabust,” as it was) was heralded by the Justice Department in a news release Thursday afternoon as one of “the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States.”

The Justice Department said that its indictment charged 7 people affiliated with the companies Megaupload and Vestor for “generating more than $175 million in criminal proceeds and causing more than half a billion dollars in harm to copyright owners.”

The indictment also references correspondence between Megaupload executives and employees and Universal Music Group, in which UMG appeared to be negotiating the terms under which it would allow its content to be licensed for Megaupload’s “Megabox.”

Within hours, the Justice Department’s website was knocked offline and was still down at the time this post was published. Universal Music’s website also appeared to be offline.

On October 5, Sarkis Soghanalian, once the world’s largest private arms dealer, died at 82. He had sold weapons to scores of dictators including Saddam Hussein, and he took many secrets with him to his grave… one secret he did not take involves Newt Gingrich when he was Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

DCBureau has learned that Gingrich was at the center of a U.S. Justice Department criminal investigation in the late 1990s for a scheme to shake down the arms dealer for a $10 million bribe in exchange for Gingrich using his influence as Speaker to get the Iraq arms embargo lifted so Soghanalian could collect $54 million from Saddam Hussein’s regime for weapons he had delivered during the Iran-Iraq War.

Soghanalian was an FBI informant and was responsible for launching one of the most sensitive and secret investigations in FBI history involving the former Speaker and his second wife.

According to Marianne Gingrich, it took the direct intervention of then FBI Director Louis J. Freeh to “get the investigation called off.” Freeh did not return emails and telephone calls for comment.

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul, the constitutionally-observant candidate of real change, will face down establishment candidate and notorious flip-flopper Mitt Romney in a head-to-head matchup in the Virginia primary.

The Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied four candidates’ appeals to appear on the ballot after their glaring failure to comply with the Commonwealth’s stringent, but widely-known, ballot access requirements.

Former candidate Jon Huntsman and Rick Santorum did not file signatures with the Virginia State Board of Elections at all. Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich did file signatures, but fell short of qualifying. Rick Perry then brought a suit against the state challenging the ballot-access requirements to which all candidates were held, and others failing to qualify joined the suit. When the suit was struck down, an injunction was filed in part to reconcile whether and when paper ballots would be printed, and today the final decision was handed down.

Virginia is the nation’s 12^th-largest state and its primary election takes place on March 6^th – Super Tuesday. The absence of any other candidates on the ballot aside from Paul and Romney, including serial hypocrite Gingrich and counterfeit conservative Santorum, is sending ripple effects throughout key early voting states including South Carolina where Palmetto State voters now are concerned about how their vote will affect the nominating process going forward.

Since his inauguration, President Obama had neglected to make a single payment on the home he’d shared with his wife and two daughters, while the house itself fell into grave disrepair.
“The place started to become a real eyesore,” said Kevin Deckman, who owns a home on the opposite side of the street from the former Obama residence. “The lawn was nothing but weeds, and there were a bunch of stray cats that would come and go through an open window, I think. It was a real health hazard. I had to tell my kids to stay away from the Obama house so they wouldn’t catch rabies.”

It was likely a lapse of protocol, but Panetta let it slip: Iran is in fact not trying to develop a nuclear weapon. CBS reports,

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta outlined some red lines when it comes to Iran in an interview on “Face the Nation” Sunday, saying the U.S. would not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon or to block the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key passageway for oil from the Middle East.

“Are they trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No.”

There it is, plain and simple for the whole world to hear. Of course, that tidbit of information may not help the cause of those who wish for yet another interventionist war. Panetta quickly recovered, and nearly contradicted himself in the process:

But we know that they’re trying to develop a nuclear capability. And that’s what concerns us,” Panetta told “Face the Nation” host Bob Schieffer. “And our red line to Iran is to not develop a nuclear weapon. That’s a red line for us.”

The pro-war crowd cannot barely bring themselves to report the fact. Despite the Defense Secretary’s clear words  ”not trying to develop,”

Here’s how Fox News spun the story:

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says Iran is laying the groundwork for making nuclear weapons someday, but is not yet building a bomb and called for continued diplomatic and economic pressure to persuade Tehran not to take that step.

It seems to me that “laying the groundwork for making nuclear weapons” would fall under “trying to develop nuclear weapons,” but that’s exactly the opposite of what Panetta said. It seems like there’s a considerable amount of semantics on all sides here.

Mark Deli Siljander,  a former Michigan congressman and U.S. delegate to the United Nations who in 2010 pleaded guilty to obstructing justice and acting as an unregistered foreign agent, was sentenced to a year and a day in prison this month.

Siljander, 60, a Michigan Republican who served in Congress from 1981 to 1987, was charged as part of a wider criminal case against members of the Islamic American Relief Agency, which prosecutors said had ties to the Pakistani Taliban, al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, who was killed by U.S. forces in May.

He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nanette Laughrey in Kansas City, Missouri. Four members of the now- defunct Columbia, Missouri-based IARA were also sentenced, U.S. Attorney Beth Phillips said in a statement.

After secretly sending more than $1 million to Iraq in violation of U.S. economic sanctions, “IARA then hired a former congressman to lobby the government on its behalf after it was listed as a specially designated global terrorist organization,” the prosecutor said.

The indictment said Siljander and three charity officers agreed to cover up the money’s origins and use it on the lobbying effort. Money was funneled to Siljander through nonprofits, prosecutors said.

The group’s executive director, Mubarak Hamed, and fundraiser Abdel Azim El-Siddiq in 2004 hired Siljander to lobby for the group’s removal from a U.S. Senate list of charities suspected of aiding international terrorism, Phillips said.

A Canadian military intelligence officer has been arrested on charges of alleged espionage on behalf of Russia, CTV News reported. Jeffrey Paul Delisle, 40, was brought to trial in Halifax City in Nova Scotia Province on Monday facing charges under the Security of Information Act, the report said.

Delisle, who was allegedly arrested last week, is accused of having supplied secret files to a foreign entity since July 2007. The foreign entity in question was Russia, Canadian news broadcaster quoted unidentified sources as telling its Ottawa Bureau Chief Robert Fife.

“Sources say that Russian espionage in this country is as extensive and aggressive as it was during the Cold War,” Fife was quoted in the report as saying. The secret information allegedly passed to Russia could deal with ship movements and data about Canada’s allies, Fife said. None of the allegations have been proven in court, the report said. A spokesman for the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Ivanov, refused to comment on the report when asked by RIA Novosti.

The Canadian Defense Department earlier said Delisle was an intelligence officer and a Navy Sub-Lieutenant, CTV said. The military has launched a probe to find out the extent of the alleged leaks, it said. Delisle’s trial may take place behind closed doors because of the sensitivity of the case, the report quoted sources as saying. The maximum punishment for offenses under the Security of Information Act is life in prison.

Senators from both sides of the aisle are warning that looming EPA regulations on gasoline could impose billions of dollars in additional costs on the industry and end up adding up to 25 cents to every gallon of gas.

The senators, in a letter this week to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, urged the agency to back off the yet-to-be-released regulations. At the New Hampshire Debate, Romney Defended Controversial EPA Rule Bucking the GOP field’s mantra that EPA rules are all bad, Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney cautiously defended a controversial Obama administration clean-air rule during a GOP presidential debate Sunday in New Hampshire.

In response to a question about EPA’s so-called “Good Neighbor” rule—which controls air pollution that blows across state lines—Romney said: “We have to find ways to keep pollution from one state overwhelming the ability of another state to have clean air.”

As governor of Massachusetts, Romney was on the forefront of implementing clean-air regulations. As one of the states downwind from polluting states, Massachusetts stands to benefit from the Obama administration’s new rule, which was delayed by a federal court late last month. New Hampshire is also downwind from polluting states and also benefits from Obma’s EPA’s Good Neighbor rule. Romney surely realized that when he decided to defend—however cautiously—EPA’s efforts.

William Weld, Former Mass. Gov. was on the CFR North American Union Task Force that insists we get rid of our borders in 5 years and let all the Mexicans into our colleges and give all the illegals social security.

He was the New York co-Chair of Romney’s campaign in 2008.

Weld co-chaired the Independent Task Force on North America under the Council on Foreign Relations, which studied the integration of the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Weld publicly endorsed Mitt Romney for the presidency on January 8, 2007. Weld served as the co-chairman for Romney’s campaign in New York State. On the same day that Weld endorsed Romney, Gov. and Mrs. Weld also raised $50,000 for Romney’s exploratory committee. Weld personally made a donation of $2,100 dollars, the maximum allowed per person per election at the time. He later donated another $200 dollars (the new maximum allowed was $2,300).

Weld was also active in campaigning for Governor Romney in New Hampshire where both Governors traveled together, in 2008

According to NDTV, a Chinese news station based outside the country, in regard to recent speculation that Iran would be the target of a US-Israeli military assault, Major General Zhang Zhaozhong commented that, “China will not hesitate to protect Iran even with a third world war,” remarks described as “puzzling to some”.

The news report also quotes Professor Xia Ming as paraphrasing Zhaozhong’s quote that, “not hesitating to fight a third world war would be entirely for domestic political needs.”

Hope A. MacAllister wanted access to police and military vaults for American weapons recovered by Mexican authorities in raids and at crime scenes. She especially was interested in firearms from another ATF investigation, code-named White Gun, that she was running.

“Apparently guns got away again,” said one source close to the investigation, led by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista) and Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa). “How many got into Mexico, who knows?”

Officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives declined to comment on whether any firearms were lost in White Gun. But unlike Fast and Furious, they vigorously defended the previously unreported White Gun operation as a well-managed investigation that produced three arrests and convictions.

The three men “were looking to acquire military-grade weapons for a drug cartel,” said an ATF official, who asked for anonymity because the case involves an undercover operation. “This was a classic example of bad guys showing up at a location to get the weapons they desire but getting arrested by law enforcement instead.”

Eric Holder, current attorney general of the United States, managed an FBI operation that provided explosives to Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols just prior to the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995, according to official documents released during the ongoing investigation into government foreknowledge of the supposed terrorist attack.

According to the documentation provided in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit brought against the Department of Justice by Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue, the Oklahoma City bombing had aspects of being an FBI sting operation that went out of control. Holder had authorized the FBI to provide explosives to Nichols and McVeigh, then lost track of both the explosives and their targets. McVeigh went on to detonate some of the explosives outside the federal building, an act that was designed to help anti-terrorism legislation pass Congress. But an additional case of explosives was unaccounted for.

After the bombing, when the FBI learned the location of the explosives, Holder reportedly sent emails to FBI agents ordering them to recover the explosives before they could be found by some other branch of the government. FBI agents failed to spot the additional, unexploded explosives during an initial search of Nichols’s home and offered to spare him the death penalty if he would help them recover them.

The case of explosives was, however, recovered by another law enforcement agency and was later determined to have the incriminating  fingerprints of two FBI agents, as well as fingerprints of McVeigh and Nichols.

Shortly after the bombing, Kenneth Trentadue, a government informant, was murdered in his prison cell. His family has been pursuing legal action against the federal government ever since.

In 2001, in a bid to avoid a full release of documents, the Federal Bureau of Prisons paid a settlement of $1.1 million to several members of Trentadue’s family, but his brother refused to drop the investigation and filed a FOIA lawsuit for the missing documents. That suit has been ongoing in the Salt Lake City federal courthouse.

Documents obtained by Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit show then-Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder authorized members of the FBI to provide explosives to Oklahoma City bombing criminals Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols immediately prior to the April 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah building.

Holder had authorized the FBI to provide the explosives to McVeigh and Nichols in conjunction with a Clinton administration undercover operation named PATCON, an acronym for “Patriot Conspiracy.” As Jesse Trentadue describes it, “PATCON was designed to infiltrate and incite…militias and evangelical Christians to violence so that the Department of Justice could crush them.”

Both Waco and Ruby Ridge are now known to have been PATCON-inspired, Department of Justice plots.

Shortly after the Oklahoma City bombing, Holder instructed FBI agents to recover from Terry Nichols any remainder of the explosives the Bureau had provided him and McVeigh. To the chagrin of Eric Holder, the explosives were later discovered by another agency, complete with the fingerprints of Nichols, McVeigh, and two FBI agents. Holder had reportedly offered Nichols respite from the death penalty for his cooperation in recovering the explosives.  Obviously, the Deputy Attorney General considered covering up his criminal complicity in the bombing a good deed eminently worth sparing Nichols his just punishment for the murders of 168 innocent Americans.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta phoned Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai on Thursday and promised a full investigation of a video that purports to depict four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters — a video both men condemned as deplorable.

In a separate public statement, Panetta said such behavior is “entirely inappropriate for members of the United States military” and that those responsible will be held accountable.

At least two of the four men have been identified as Marines based at Camp Lejeune, N.C., the Associated Press reported, citing a Marine official who spoke on condition of anonymity because there is an active criminal investigation of the incident.

The Marine Corps’ top general condemned the video and called for criminal and internal probes into what has quickly mushroomed into an international incident that threatens to undermine the U.S war effort.
